Visiting SDN Gunung 01 Kebayoran Baru, Kapolda Metro Says: “You’ll Never Walk Alone, Child”

Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Dadang Hartanto, visits SDN Gunung 01 in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Dadang Hartanto engaged in a friendly discussion with students at SDN Gunung 01 in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. During the discussion, Kapolda Dadang encouraged the students to build their character from an early age by cultivating habits of orderliness, discipline, and care for others. He shared this message while visiting classes 1C, 3A, and 6C on the morning of Monday, October 12, 2026.

Through a direct Q&A session, Kapolda Dadang invited the children to share their views on the police and talk about their aspirations for the future. He also introduced the police as friends to children—figures present to protect and assist them.

The interaction included giving prizes to students who answered questions correctly, serving as a form of appreciation and encouragement for them to speak up confidently and participate actively in learning.

One of the habits Kapolda Dadang emphasized was wearing a helmet when traveling by motorcycle, including when riding as a passenger with their parents to school.

Kapolda Dadang explained, that wearing a helmet is not merely about obeying rules, but is a necessity for protecting the head in the event of an impact or accident. The children were also encouraged to remind their parents to always wear helmets, making safety a shared habit within the family.

Character building was also fostered through simple behaviors at school and in public places—such as getting into the habit of queuing, respecting others, pointing out mistakes politely, and helping friends who are struggling. The children were encouraged to value diversity, play together without excluding anyone, and have the courage to apologize and make amends when they make a mistake.

Kapolda Dadang also motivated the students to study diligently and to be brave in expressing their dreams. The students were invited to share their good study habits as well. Examples include reading more, summarizing lessons, practicing, and limiting time spent on video games to avoid excess. He also emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to keep learning as essential tools for building a successful future.

Regarding bullying prevention, students were introduced to various actions that can hurt their peers—ranging from hitting, mocking, and social exclusion to public humiliation via social media. Children were also reminded not to join in laughing at a peer who is being bullied, but rather to help in a safe manner and immediately report the incident to a teacher.

Kapolda Dadang conveyed the message that speaking up is not snitching, but rather a way to seek help. Children were encouraged to have the courage to ask for assistance from parents, teachers, or trusted adults if they experience bullying, get lost, or face difficulties.

The police emergency service 110 was also introduced as a means to request police assistance, which can be accessed with the guidance of a teacher or parent.

Addressing school principals and teachers, Kapolda Dadang emphasized, that education should not focus solely on academic grades but also on fostering ethics, proper conduct, and social awareness starting from the first grade.

These habits need to be instilled through leading by example and daily practice. Politeness and respect for others must go hand-in-hand with a child’s courage to ask questions and voice their concerns. Schools are also expected to provide a safe space for children to share their stories and to respond appropriately to every report of bullying.

Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, also highlighted the importance of support from teachers and parents so that children feel safe enough to disclose problems and receive the appropriate assistance.

In line with the spirit of Polisi Bersama Masyarakat, this educational initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among the police, schools, and families in supporting children’s growth and development. Every child needs to feel heard and know that they do not have to face challenges alone. You’ll never walk alone, child. (Bembo)
