Less Than Two Weeks into His Tenure as Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Has Already Cracked Down on Drug Enclaves Across Indonesia

Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – It must be acknowledged that Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto has demonstrated remarkable drive as the Kapolri. His commitment to eradicating drug trafficking is truly steadfast, a fact proven by his aggressive raids on known drug-dealing enclaves across various regions of Indonesia.

Although less than two weeks have passed since his inauguration, he has—through his force—made a bold move by launching massive operations targeting these drug-ridden neighborhoods. These operations also serve as a direct follow-up to directives issued by President Prabowo Subianto.

These simultaneous operations were conducted on Sunday, October 11, 2026, spanning regions from Jakarta and Sumatera to Sulawesi and Kalimantan. The raids involved joint personnel from the Polri’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Narcotics Directorate, local regional police units, and provincial-level branches of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

In addition to detaining hundreds of individuals, the joint task force seized various pieces of evidence, including narcotics and paraphernalia used for consuming illicit substances. In the Percut Sei Tuan District of Deli Serdang, North Sumatera, officers even confiscated arcade-style gambling machines and the coins used to operate them.

Jenderal Pol Suyudi’s tactical approach to combating narcotics was already evident during his previous tenure as the Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN). It is, therefore, no surprise that he has immediately made a significant impact early in his term as Kapolri by launching these large-scale operations against drug enclaves.

The following is a report by progresifjaya.co.id detailing the track record of Jenderal Pol Suyudi—and the forces under his command—regarding these drug raids.

Kampung Ambon and Kampung Boncos Raided

Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto.

Just over a week after his appointment as Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi immediately ordered his subordinates to launch drug enforcement operations in two high-risk areas of West Jakarta: Kampung Ambon and Kampung Boncos.

At these two locations, joint personnel—comprising the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency’s (Bareskrim) Narcotics Directorate, the Polda Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), and the TNI —seized various pieces of evidence, ranging from narcotics to sharp weapons believed to have been prepared for resistance.

During the sweep of these locations, officers detained 24 individuals—16 in Kampung Ambon and 8 in Kampung Boncos. They were subsequently taken to the police station for further questioning.

“Joint forces arrested 24 individuals suspected of involvement in drug trafficking in Kampung Ambon and Kampung Boncos, West Jakarta. They were apprehended during raids conducted today,” said Brigjen Pol Kristian Parluhutan Siagian, Director of Narcotics Crimes at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), on Friday, October 9, 2026.

“The items found at the scene included crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, and sharp weapons—specifically arrows, spears, and bows. We also found etomidate and weighing scales. We will, of course, conduct an investigation into these findings,” he added.

9 Locations in North Sumatera Raided

Joint forces raided nine areas known as drug hotspots in North Sumatera. During these simultaneous enforcement operations, officers detained 36 individuals and seized evidence including hundreds of grams of crystal methamphetamine, dozens of drug paraphernalia items, and arcade-style gambling machines.

Brigjen Pol Kristian Parluhutan Siagian, Director of Narcotics Crimes at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), personally led the operation. This initiative is a continuation of a series of raids targeting drug dens that have been intensified across various regions of Indonesia since October 9, 2026.

“We know that President Prabowo and the Kapolri are deeply concerned about combating and eradicating drugs. In line with the President’s ‘Asta Cita’ vision and the Kapolri’s priority programs, this is a follow-up operation to eradicate drugs in high-risk areas suspected of serving as drug dens throughout Indonesia,” said Brigjen Pol Kristian Parluhutan Siagian in his statement on Monday, October 12, 2026.

Drug Hotspot in South Sulawesi Raided, 104 People Detained

In another area, personnel from the Polda of South Sulawesi Narcotics Directorate raided a known drug hotspot in Kampung Sapiria Bortak, Suangga Urban Village, Tallo District. The operation, conducted on Friday, October 9, 2026, resulted in the detention of 10 individuals.

“Kampung Sapiria Bortak in the Tallo area is known for significant drug trafficking activity,” said Kapolresta of Makassar City, Kombes Pol Arya Perdana to reporters on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

During the operation, officers faced resistance from drug dealers. Some individuals attempted to hide on the roofs of residents’ houses.

“Of the more than 100 people [involved/present], approximately 10 were residents of the local urban village,” explained Suangga Urban Village Head, Andi Erni on Sunday, October 11, 2026.

The remaining 94 individuals, she added, were from outside the Suangga Urban Village area. She also noted that she had frequently received reports of visitors from outside the area entering the location.
