Preventing Unrest and Violations, Polresta of Bandung Establish Bobotoh Task Force

Persib Bandung supporters (Bobotoh).

progresifjaya.co.id, BANDUNG – The Polresta of Bandung have taken a persuasive approach by establishing a Bobotoh Task Force. This initiative aims to transform the supporter groups into active partners for the police, working together to prevent unrest and violations of order both inside and outside the stadium.

The formation of this task force involves direct synergy between the police, Persib’s management, and the leaders of various supporter communities. This collaborative security unit represents four major groups of loyal supporters of the Maung Bandung squad, Viking, Bobotoh, Boboko, and Bomber. By involving these grassroots elements, it is hoped that a safe, comfortable, and conducive match-day environment can be created.

Regarding its core duties and functions, the Bobotoh Task Force is not intended to replace the role of official state security forces. Instead, it serves specifically to assist with oversight from within the supporter communities themselves. Task force members are responsible for maintaining public security and order throughout the duration of Persib’s matches.

In practice, task force personnel are instructed to proactively address individuals or groups whose behavior is provocative or threatens to disrupt the match atmosphere. If such persuasive interventions are ignored, the task force is obligated to report the individuals involved to the police for appropriate legal action.

Furthermore, this group carries a long-term educational mission. They are tasked with guiding fellow supporters to cheer for their beloved team in a more civilized manner.

It is believed, that this peer-to-peer approach among supporters is far more effective in encouraging fans to abandon old habits that often lead to physical altercations with the supporters of rival clubs.

Kapolresta Bandung, Kombes Pol Tri Suhartanto, stated that supporter groups play a crucial role in monitoring blind spots—areas that are often not directly visible to uniformed officers.

“We hope the ‘Bobotoh Task Force’ can serve as a vital partner in helping us prevent conflicts on the ground,” said Kapolresta Tri Suhartanto. (Bembo)
