Chief of the Presidential Staff, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo: “Through Pencak Silat, Tapak Suci Builds Superior and Competitive Human Resources”

Chief of the Presidential Staff (KSP), Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, together with the central leadership of Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah.
progresifjaya.co.id, YOGYAKARTA – Chief of the Presidential Staff (KSP), Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, emphasized the vital role of social and sports organizations in shaping a young generation characterized by strong values, integrity, and a spirit of patriotism. One such organization recognized for its strategic contribution to this endeavor is Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah.
According to Listyo Sigit, the development fostered by Tapak Suci through pencak silat (traditional Indonesian martial arts) training does more than just produce high-achieving athletes, it also cultivates superior and competitive human resources. This role aligns with the fourth point of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita (eight-point vision), which focuses on strengthening the development of Indonesia’s human capital.
Listyo Sigit conveyed these remarks while addressing the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Central Executive Board of Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah for the 2026–2031 term, held at the Ahmad Dahlan University Auditorium in Yogyakarta on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
In his address, Listyo Sigit expressed his appreciation for the dedication of the entire Tapak Suci community, which has long contributed to nurturing the younger generation, preserving national culture, and advancing achievements in the sport of pencak silat. He also conveyed warm regards from President Prabowo Subianto to all participants of the National Working Meeting.
“Warm regards from President Prabowo Subianto—who once served as the General Chairman of IPSI (Indonesian Pencak Silat Association)—to all members of the central and regional boards, and to the entire Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah family, wherever they may be,” said Listyo Sigit.
According to him, the training provided by Tapak Suci goes beyond teaching martial arts skills; it also instills values such as faith, moral character, discipline, brotherhood, and integrity.
These values are reflected in the Tapak Suci motto: “With faith and moral character, i become strong; without faith and moral character, i become weak.”
Listyo Sigit emphasized, that these values must be upheld to shape a younger generation that possesses a spirit of patriotism, love for the homeland, and integrity, while also being capable of competing at both national and international levels.
“This is certainly something that must be continuously nurtured and maintained. Indonesia needs a generation that possesses a patriotic spirit, love for the nation, integrity, and excellence,” he stated.
In addition to character development, Listyo Sigit also acknowledged the contribution of Tapak Suci in producing high-achieving pencak silat athletes. This was evident at the 2024 ASEAN University Games, where Tapak Suci athletes secured six gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.

He urged, that these achievements serve as motivation to further enhance the quality of athlete development—by strengthening the process of identifying promising talent, improving the caliber of coaches, and organizing tiered competitions.
“Remain humble. These achievements should be built upon through the cultivation of new talent, the enhancement of coaching quality, and the implementation of structured, multi-level competitions,” he said.
Furthermore, Listyo Sigit noted that pencak silat holds great potential as an instrument for Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy on the international stage. Through this traditional martial art, the nation’s noble values can be introduced to the global community, while simultaneously strengthening friendships between nations.
Consequently, it is hoped that Tapak Suci will not only produce accomplished martial artists and athletes but also cultivate a generation capable of serving as cultural ambassadors—bringing honor to Indonesia in the international arena.
In his closing remarks, Listyo Sigit urged the entire Tapak Suci family to strengthen their commitment to serving the nation and the state. He posed four questions regarding the readiness of Tapak Suci members to serve the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), act as patriots in defense of the nation, support national programs, and uphold the truth while assisting the vulnerable.
“Are you prepared to serve the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia? Are you prepared to be patriots who defend the nation? Are you prepared to support national programs? Are you prepared to uphold the truth, combat injustice, and help those who are weak?” he asked.
The participants of the National Working Meeting, filling the auditorium at Ahmad Dahlan University, responded in unison: “Ready!”
Listyo Sigit remarked that this spirit embodies the true essence of a martial artist—a quality that must be manifested in one’s life within society, the nation, and the state.
Through this National Working Meeting, Listyo Sigit also expressed his hope that Tapak Suci will continue to uphold the organization’s noble values, strengthen its internal solidarity, and increase its tangible contributions toward nurturing the younger generation—thereby supporting the national development agenda toward a Golden Indonesia 2045.
The National Working Meeting was also attended by the Acting Deputy III of the Executive Office of the President, Dr. Yan Hiksas, and the General Chairman of the Tapak Suci Putera Muhammadiyah Central Board, Drs. H. M. Afnan Hadikusumo, P.Br., a member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), Dr. Ir. Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno, M.M., Special Staff to the Vice President, Machhendra Setyo Atmaja, Vice Rector V of Ahmad Dahlan University, Dr. Gatot Sugiharto, S.H., M.H, along with several prominent figures and board members of Tapak Suci.
