progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The Polda Metro Jaya deployed 5.044 joint personnel through Operation Candlelight 2025 to secure the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 celebrations. Security focused on places of worship, transportation hubs, and entry and exit routes to Jakarta to ensure a safe and conducive situation.

In his official statement, Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri stated, that the thousands of personnel deployed consisted of 4.217 Polri personnel, 394 TNI personnel from the Jakarta Military Command (Kodam Jaya), and 433 Jakarta Provincial Government personnel. This was further supported by community elements.

“All personnel are deployed and ready to provide the best security and service to the public,” said Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’ in his statement on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Intense security measures have also been implemented at 14 priority churches across Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and Bekasi, such as the Jakarta Cathedral and Immanuel Church in Jakarta.

In addition to places of worship, security measures are also being implemented at all stations and airports to ensure the service and safety of train passengers ahead of the Christmas and New Year’s surge. Security focuses on ensuring smooth passenger flow, preventing disruptions to public order and security, and providing humane service.

In the traffic sector, the Polda Metro Jaya has also set up a security post at the Cikunir Interchange at KM 10. This post monitors the entry and exit of vehicles in the Jakarta area. Based on data from the past three days, 477,321 vehicles have left Jakarta. Therefore, traffic management is being prepared situationally and dynamically.

Due to the potential for extreme weather, 196 Disaster Preparedness personnel, along with special equipment and search and rescue vehicles, have been deployed to respond quickly to emergencies. Therefore, Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’ urged the public to remain vigilant regarding weather changes and comply with officer instructions.

“The Polda Metro Jaya is committed to providing the best service so that the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year celebrations run safely, orderly, and conducively,” he emphasized.
