progresifjaya.co.id, CIAMIS – The Polres of Ciamis Traffic Unit, in collaboration with relevant agencies, conducted motor vehicle tax compliance checks in the Sindangkasih District, Ciamis Regency, on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
The operation, which began at 08:00 WIB, represents a concrete, integrated effort to boost public compliance with vehicle administrative obligations. It also aims to curb the number of vehicles failing to renew their registration (KTMDU)—an issue that remains a concern in the Ciamis Regency area.
The inspection was designed not merely as an enforcement action, but as an educational and persuasive initiative involving various relevant stakeholders.
Participants included the Head of the Traffic Unit, the Traffic Unit’s Operational Development Officer (KBO), the Head of the Traffic Regulation and Enforcement Unit (Kanit Turjawali), and all personnel from the Polres of Ciamis Traffic Unit. Also present were members of the Ciamis Military Police Detachment (Denpom), the Ciamis Joint Vehicle Administration Service (Samsat) team, the Head of the Ciamis Data and Regional Management Center (P3DW) and their staff, as well as representatives from PT Jasa Raharja and Bank BJB (Ciamis Regency branches).
The participation of these diverse agencies reflects a shared commitment to maintaining administrative order while providing convenient services to the public at the site.
Before deploying to the field, all personnel attended a readiness roll call and briefing to clarify the operation’s objectives, targets, and procedures.
In the field, inspections of passing vehicles were conducted using a humanistic approach. Officers did not immediately resort to enforcement, instead, they prioritized providing reminders, explanations, and education regarding the importance of fulfilling motor vehicle tax obligations on time. The inspection proceeded in an orderly and smooth manner, with a total of 772 motor vehicles—comprising 610 two-wheeled and 162 four-wheeled vehicles—being checked. Of this total, the owners of 33 vehicles (27 two-wheeled and 6 four-wheeled) signed statements pledging to settle their outstanding obligations promptly.
Meanwhile, the owners of 17 vehicles (16 two-wheeled and 1 four-wheeled) made immediate tax payments on-site, taking advantage of the convenient services provided by the officers present.
Kapolres of Ciamis, AKBP Eko Iskandar, through the Head of the Polres of Ciamis Traffic Unit, AKP Anjar Maulana emphasized, that this activity represents tangible synergy between the police and their partners. The goal is to foster collective public awareness regarding the importance of maintaining proper vehicle administration.
“This activity is a joint effort to reduce the number of vehicles that have not undergone re-registration. We urge the public to maintain proper administrative compliance and fulfill their motor vehicle tax obligations on time,” stated AKP Anjar Maulana.
He added, that administrative compliance is not merely about the obligation to pay taxes, it is also an integral part of efforts to ensure traffic security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow.
Vehicles that are properly documented, legally registered, and verified as roadworthy contribute directly to the safety of drivers, passengers, and other road users.
The public welcomed the presence of officers in the field. Many residents appreciated the non-coercive approach, which focused on providing information, offering friendly reminders, and facilitating on-site payment.
The officers’ presence was also seen as highly beneficial in reminding those who might have overlooked the renewal deadline or did not fully understand the procedure, while also providing an opportunity to settle obligations without having to travel to a service office.
This initiative serves as tangible proof of the commitment shared by the Polres of Ciamis and all stakeholders to foster a community that is increasingly aware of and compliant with traffic regulations and motor vehicle administrative requirements. The goal is to create a safe, orderly, and equitable driving environment for all residents of Ciamis Regency. (Bembo)
