Kapolda West Java Praises Kapolres Bogor Creativity for Recruiting Supeltas to Manage Puncak Traffic

Kapolda West Java, Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan, accompanied by West Java Traffic Director, Kombes Pol Dodi Darjanto, and Kapolres Bogor, AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto.
progresifjaya.co.id, BOGOR – The innovative and creative idea of Kapolres Bogor, AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto, to recruit alternative route ‘jockeys’ as Volunteer Traffic Controllers (Supeltas) during the Christmas and New Year holidays on the Puncak route has received appreciation and praise from Kapolda West Java, Irjen Pol Rudi Setiawan.
These Supeltas ‘jockeys’ work voluntarily to help regulate the smooth flow of traffic. There is no financial interest involved. Congestion on the Puncak route due to increased vehicle volume is being consistently reduced.
“That’s a good idea. Truly creative thinking. As far as we know, these jockeys might help. But they actually add to the workload, as the jockeys create traffic jams at several points,” said Kapolda Rudi at Simpang Gadog, Bogor, on Friday, December 26, 2026.
“But this time, the work of the jockeys, known as Supeltas, is very different. Traffic flow on the Puncak route is actually being managed and streamlined. I applaud this creative idea,” he added.
In addition to Supeltas, Kapolda Rudi also expressed his admiration and praise for the initiative of Kapolres Bogor, AKBP Wikha, and his staff, who partnered with hotels in the Puncak area to implement late check-out. This strategy allows tourists to plan their travel times.
“The strategy is to make decisions based on traffic congestion. We also appreciate the Kapolres Bogor for implementing late check-out. Therefore, we urge hotel operators to delay or postpone check-out times for guests,” said Kapolda Rudi.
He further stated, that hotel managers have also been encouraged to offer restaurant discounts if guests have to wait for the one-way system.
This is intended to ensure road users remain comfortable even when traffic is heavy.
“We must all acknowledge that the measures implemented by the Polres Bogor are aimed at ensuring the comfort and safety of tourists and road users. The Supeltas who assist with traffic management are still being given incentives as a token of appreciation. But the bottom line is that the Polri are still on the ground, present, and acting to serve the public. Our appreciation goes to the Kapolres Bogor,” Kapolda Rudi reiterated his praise. (Bembo)
