progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Depok Metro Polres have successfully apprehended a man suspected of cyberterrorism who caused unrest and panic at 10 schools in Depok City. The perpetrator, Hylmi Rafif Rabbani, also known as HRR, is a 23-year-old Informatics Engineering student at Bina Nusantara (Binus) University.

In his disturbing actions, HRR sent bomb threat emails to 10 schools in Depok City, West Java, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The email threat caused an uproar at the 10 schools. The bomb squad, along with security personnel, conducted searches at the schools.

HRR’s whereabouts were quickly identified by police after investigating the origins of the terrorist emails.

The Head of the Depok Metro Polres Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Made Oka stated in an official statement that, the investigation revealed that HRR was the ex-boyfriend of a woman named Kamila, also known as K. This woman is the owner of the email account used by HRR to send the threats.

HRR carried out this cyberterrorism bombing because he was hurt by the end of his relationship with K. Unknown to him, HRR then resorted to using his ex-girlfriend’s email account to send the bomb threats, claiming to be K.

“The suspect was disappointed because their relationship had failed, including the proposal that didn’t receive the blessing of the victim’s family. K’s family and his sister rejected the suspect’s proposal. So, the suspect resorted to cyberterrorism, sending hoax bombs to 10 schools in Depok,” Kompol Made Oka explained to reporters on Friday, December 26, 2025.

He also stated, that one of the schools receiving the bomb threat emails was indeed the alma mater of K, HRR’s ex-girlfriend, who was also a victim of this case. This further strengthens the suspicion that this action was a form of venting HRR’s personal hurt.

The following are 10 schools in Depok City that were targeted by the bomb-based cyberterrorism scheme by suspect HRR:

As a result of this reckless action, continued Commissioner Made Oka, investigators were forced to charge HRR with multiple articles. First, he was charged with Article 45B in conjunction with Article 29 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions. Then, he was charged with Article 335 of the Criminal Code, and then with Article 336 paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code. The maximum sentence he could face is five years in prison. (Bembo)
