TAUD Requests Polri to Investigate Evidence of Bottles and Helmets Belonging to the Suspect

The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), which is the legal representative for the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, a victim of the acid attack, is conducting a press conference broadcast on the YLBHI YouTube channel.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), which is representing the acid attack victim, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS Andrie Yunus, has formed an independent investigative team to investigate the case. TAUD has also requested that the Polri examine the evidence found, including the bottle and the helmet belonging to the alleged perpetrator.

TAUD representative, Jane Rosalina Rumpia, in a press conference broadcast on the YLBHI YouTube channel, following the Polda Metro Jaya press conference on Monday, March 16, 2026, also revealed the extent of Andrie Yunus injuries. She stated, that the victim’s right eye was one of the most severely injured organs.

“Andrie suffered 24 percent burns due to an inflammatory reaction from the acid that hit his skin. The wounds are on the right side of his face, right eye, both right eyes, and chest. But the most serious is his right eye, and he is currently receiving special treatment from an eye surgeon,” said Jane.

She also emphasized, that everyone should not come to the hospital, except for family members who are providing support.

“We emphasize that an in-person visit to the hospital is unnecessary. The hospital is where our friend is undergoing sterilization and recovery. Our friend deserves safe, quality healthcare and more intensive protection of his privacy during his treatment,” Jane asserted.

Another representative from TAUD, Erlangga Julio, also echoed his sentiments. He considered the Polda Metro Jaya’s statement regarding the evidence incomplete because the discovery of the bottle suspected of containing acid had not been made public.

“There is still evidence that wasn’t mentioned in the press conference, but we have already provided it to the Polda Metro Jaya Mobile Mobile Investigation (Resmob) team. One important piece of evidence we highlighted is the discovery of a bottle suspected of being used to throw acid on Andrie Yunus. The bottle is purple and could be a tumbler because it’s thick,” Julio explained.

He said, the bottle was found by a witness near the crime scene and secured. Therefore, he firmly requested that the discovery of the bottle be investigated.

“The witness found it on the ground and secured it. We then took it and assisted the witness in handing it over to the Resmob Metro Jaya. However, this wasn’t mentioned in the Polda Metro Jaya press conference. This is important for further investigation and possible evidence,” he said.

He also stated, that an independent investigation team has been formed to run alongside the police investigation. The independent investigation team’s findings indicate that the perpetrator also suffered injuries from the acid attack.

This suspicion is based on the discovery of the bottle and helmet at the scene. It’s highly likely that the perpetrator was also splashed with acid, and it’s unlikely that he disposed of evidence near the scene.

“It’s almost impossible for the perpetrator to throw away the bottle. He likely threw away the evidence because he was splashed with acid. Then why would he throw away his own helmet if it wasn’t possible for the acid to hit him and injure his head,” he said analyzing the situation.

“And from several readings from our investigative team and the Polda Metro Jaya press conference, it can also be seen that the perpetrator threw the acid in the opposite direction, and the police have already found the perpetrator’s helmet,” he added.

Police Version Regarding the Suspected Perpetrator’s Helmet

The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, stated in an official statement, that his team had conducted forensic laboratory tests on objects found near the scene, such as the victim’s helmet and the acid container. It is hoped that fingerprints and traces of the perpetrator’s DNA will be found on the container and the tested objects.

“We are currently conducting forensic laboratory tests on the evidence found at the scene,” Iman said at a press conference at the Polda Metro Jaya.

“We really hope that the results of the forensic laboratory tests will yield fingerprints and DNA,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kapolres Metro of the Central Jakarta, Kombes Pol Reynold Hutagalung, also acknowledged, that his team had found a helmet suspected to belong to the perpetrator. The helmet matched CCTV footage of the perpetrator being worn.

“From a search along Jalan Salemba 1, evidence suspected to belong to the perpetrator was found on Jalan Salemba 1 towards RSCM. This corresponds with CCTV footage showing the perpetrator riding the motorcycle wearing the helmet,” said Kombes Pol Reynold.

The helmet, he continued, was sent to the Identification Center (Pusident) Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) and the Polri Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabofor) on March 15, 2026. The evidence was sent to obtain fingerprints and DNA suspected to belong to the perpetrator. (Bembo)
