Polres Metro of Central Jakarta investigators with a German citizen who was the victim of a cell phone snatching.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A German citizen was the victim of a mugging in the Sawah Besar area of Central Jakarta on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at around 4:55 PM WIB. His cell phone, which he was playing with, was suddenly snatched by two perpetrators riding a motorcycle.

The victim then reported the mugging to the Polres Metro of Central Jakarta. Upon receiving the information, the Polres Metro of Central Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) immediately took action. A series of investigations were then carried out, including processing the crime scene, tracing the suspected route of the perpetrators, and collecting CCTV footage from the area. The results of this investigation ultimately led to the identification of the perpetrators.

The two mugging perpetrators, identified by the initials Y and F, were apprehended in the Rawa Badak area of North Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Furthermore, the suspect, identified as AHS, who is suspected of receiving the victim’s cell phone, was also apprehended.

“The three perpetrators have been taken to the Polres Metro of Central Jakarta for further questioning. One cell phone belonging to the victim was also seized as evidence,” explained Kapolres Metro of Central Jakarta, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

Investigators are currently completing the administrative investigation and confiscating evidence. The perpetrators are being charged under Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, which concerns aggravated theft. The penalty is a maximum of seven years in prison.

Reflecting on this case, Kapolres Reynold E.P. Hutagalung also urged the public to remain vigilant when using cell phones in public. And if they witness any crime, they should immediately report it to the nearest police station for prompt action.
