The release of these tiger prawn seeds is part of the effort to strengthen food security and support the supply chain ecosystem for raw materials for the Polda Metro Jaya’s Fish and Wildlife Service (SPPG).

Tiger prawns, scientifically known as penaeus monodon, are a marine crustacean species native to Indonesia and the Indo-Pacific region and have high economic value. Globally, they are known as black tiger shrimp.  It’s a popular seafood item due to its large size, firm and chewy flesh, and sweet and savory flavor.

The distribution of tiger prawn seeds was led by the Director of the Water and Air Police of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Mustofa. He was accompanied by a local community leader, Haji Zaini Sidi.

Kombes Pol Mustofa and Haji Zaini Sidi got their hands dirty, or went directly to the pond area to distribute the tiger prawn seeds. This activity also represents a concrete step in utilizing coastal potential to make it more productive and valuable for the community.

In his statement, Kombes Pol Mustofa stated, that coastal areas have great potential to support food security. He believes that community ponds can become productive spaces if managed sustainably.

“We want this coastal potential to continue to be developed. The distribution of tiger prawn seeds is not only to support food security, but is also expected to provide economic benefits to the surrounding community,” said the
three jasmine officer a graduate of the Endra Dharmalaksana Akpol Battalion in 1999.

He also stated, that this program demonstrates the Polri’s presence in supporting the government’s food security agenda, particularly through the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.

“Hopefully, the seeds released today will grow optimally, like the well-known black tiger shrimp, and produce a good harvest. This is part of a food supply chain that is beneficial and delicious for the community,” he added hopefully.
