Sufmi Dasco Commits to Ensuring Marginalized Groups Receive Priority Access to the 3 Million Homes Program

Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, expressed his commitment to ensuring that marginalized groups, particularly laborers, fishermen, and farmers, receive priority access to the 3 million homes development program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

Sufmi Dasco’s commitment is a response from the Gerindra Party’s Executive Chairman to growing aspirations within the community, particularly among workers who have struggled to own homes amidst sky-high property prices.

Sufmi Dasco also stated, that he plans to coordinate intensively with the executive branch to ensure the program’s implementation is on target.

“We will find time with the Minister of Housing, who has a 3 million housing program, to allocate a percentage of the total to workers. This will enable them to obtain decent housing,” said Sufmi Dasco on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

During an audience with the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA) on International Workers’ Day, Friday, May 1, 2026, Sufmi Dasco also stated that he would meet with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait. This was his response to the demands made by the KPA.

At the time, KPA Secretary General Dewi Sartika reminded the government that housing needs are not solely a problem for urban residents or factory workers.

She also stated, that integrating the housing program with the agrarian reform agenda will be key to successful structural poverty alleviation.

He continued, saying that both rural farmers and coastal fishermen have the same right to adequate housing as part of their sovereignty over their living space.

“The 3 million housing program for low-income communities (MBR), whether laborers, farmers, or fishermen, should be included as part of the agrarian reform framework in both rural and urban areas,” she stressed.

The KPA also emphasized the basic principles of housing development during the hearing as a crucial point. She also reminded the government not to fall into the trap of solely financial approaches, such as providing lengthy credit schemes.

For Dewi Sartika, the essence of agrarian reform is fulfilling the basic human right to a place to live that supports productivity and sustainability.

“This isn’t about whether the installment system should have low interest. If that’s the case, it’s not agrarian reform. It’s important to remember that agrarian reform means everything must begin with the principle of fulfilling the basic right to adequate housing and easy access to livelihoods,” she emphasized.
