Police are at the location where Nur Hasan was hit by a train while breaking up a brawl between residents in Cipinang, East Jakarta.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – A brawl between two groups of residents in Cipinang, East Jakarta, which resulted in one resident being killed by a train while trying to break up the fight, is currently under police investigation. The perpetrators of the brawl are also currently under investigation.

“We are taking precautionary measures and investigating,” said Kapolsek of Duren Sawit, Kompol Sutikno, in a statement. He added that when the brawl broke out, his officers had already arrived at the location to conduct a cleanup. Police are still on standby to ensure the situation returns to normal.

“I, along with personnel from the Polsek of Duren Sawit  and the TP3 (Precision Pioneer Patrol Team) of the Polres Metro of East Jakarta, went to the scene last night to break up the protest. I am still guarding the integrated command post,” he told the media on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto explained, that the brawl broke out on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:19 PM WIB. Residents from Kebon Singkong and Cipinang Muara on Jalan I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Cipinang Muara Village, Jatinegara District, clashed over a firecracker thrown by one of the groups.

“Around 6:02 PM WIB, residents from Kebon Singkong aimed a firecracker at Jagal, RW 010, Cipinang Village,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

While the brawl was in full swing, a resident named Nur Hasan tried to intervene. Unfortunately, he was fatally struck by a train.

“According to several witnesses, the victim died after preventing the children from RW 010 Cipinang Jagal from being influenced or resisting the attack from the other side (the children from Kebon Singkong),” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.

According to Kombes Pol Bhudi, the victim, Nur Hasan, was ordering his residents to go back to their homes. He was standing in the middle of the train tracks.

“The victim died from being struck by the train because he was in the middle of the train tracks. Then, two trains arrived at the same time, heading from Jakarta to Bekasi and Java,” explained Kombes Pol Bhudi.

The victim, who was found deceased, was taken to the Kramat Jati Polri Hospital in East Jakarta.

Therefore, Kombes Pol Bhudi reiterated his appeal to the public to maintain a conducive situation. The public was also asked to immediately contact the National Police call center at 110 if they encounter any public order disturbances and require emergency assistance.
