Polres Metro of Bekasi Uncover Motorcycle Theft and House Burglaries, 25 Suspects Arrested

Kapolres Metro of Bekasi, Kombes Pol Sumarni provides an explanation regarding the uncovering of motorcycle theft and house theft cases.
progresifjaya.co.id, BEKASI REGENCY — The Polres Metro of Bekasi have revealed cases of motor vehicle theft (curanmor) and empty house burglaries (rumsong). They also stated that 25 suspects have been arrested in these cases.
Kapolres Metro of Bekasi, Kombes Pol Sumarni in an official statement stated, that all these cases were uncovered by the Polres Metro of Bekasi Criminal Investigation Unit and its associated police stations.
“The Polres Metro of Bekasi are committed to taking firm action against all forms of crime, especially motorcycle theft and empty house burglaries that disturb the public,” said Kombes Pol Sumarni in the Polres Metro of Bekasi Lobby, North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Monday, May 11, 2026.
He further stated, that the thieves arrested were seized from several locations within the Polres Metro of Bekasi jurisdiction. A total of 23 motorcycle theft incidents occurred and one burglary involved an abandoned house.
The thefts occurred in Pebayuran, West Cikarang, Babelan, South Tambun, North Cikarang, Tambelang, Tarumajaya, South Cikarang, Central Cikarang, Serang Baru, Cibitung, and East Cikarang.

From the raids, police confiscated 23 motorcycles, four cellphones, five T-shaped keys, 16 T-shaped keys, 14 ignition keys, magnets, vehicle break-in tools, vehicle registration certificates (STNK), vehicle ownership certificates (BPKB), clothing, helmets, masks, and Rp1.343.000 in cash suspected to be related to the proceeds of crime.
One such incident occurred near the West Cikarang Mosque. The victim parked his motorcycle with the handlebars locked. However, after prayers, the motorcycle was gone.
During this operation, the Polres Metro of Bekasi also temporarily returned six motorcycles to their owners through a loan mechanism. The loan mechanism was created because the loaned vehicles were still considered evidence for investigation purposes.
Meanwhile, investigators have charged the thieves who were impounded under Article 477 of the Criminal Code concerning Aggravated Theft. This carries a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.
Furthermore, based on the various motorcycle theft and house theft cases uncovered, Kapolres Kombes Pol Sumarni also urged the public to increase their vigilance by using double locks and not leaving vehicle registration inside their motorcycles. They also urged them to utilize CCTV and existing neighborhood security systems.
“We will continue to provide a sense of security to the community. The role of residents is also crucial, both in protecting their environment and promptly reporting any crimes to 110 or the nearest police station. Let’s collaborate to secure our region from disturbances to public order and security,” Kombes Pol Sumarni urged the public.
