Defeating Kazakhstan’s Zhaiyk Uralsk, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi Reaches the Semifinals of the 2026 AVC Men’s Club Championship

The Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi squad advanced to the semifinals after defeating Kazakhstan’s Zhaiyk Uralsk.

progresifjaya.co.id,  PONTIANAK – The prestigious Asian volleyball competition, the 2026 AVC Men’s Club Championship or the 2026 Asian Men’s Volleyball Champions League, officially took place at the A. Yani Terpadu Sports Hall in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan. The competition, held from May 13-17, 2026, featured the best volleyball clubs in Asia.

The opening ceremony began with a cultural performance typical of West Kalimantan and a parade of participants from various Asian countries. The presence of thousands of spectators created a truly festive atmosphere from the opening ceremony through to the first match.

In the opening match, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi advanced to the semifinals after defeating Kazakhstan’s Zhaiyk Uralsk on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Playing at the Ahmad Yani Integrated Sports Hall in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, the Indonesian team won 3-1.

The victory, coached by Reidel Toiran, came in four sets, ending with scores of 25-19, 25-27, 25-19, and 25-21. This result kept alive the Red and White team’s hopes of competing for the continental championship.

Bhayangkara’s dominance was evident from the start of the first set, with a quick 3-1 lead. Despite Zhaiyk’s fierce resistance, reaching 8-7, the Indonesian National Police team was able to widen the lead to 16-13 after the first technical break.

Consistent pressure stifled their opponents’ momentum, leading to a 25-19 victory in the opening set.  However, Zhaiyk Uralsk rallied in the second set, relying on tight block defense and sharp attacks from the open spiker to take an 8-4 lead.

A close battle ensued late in the second set when Nizar Julfikar and his teammates managed to tie the score at 23-23. The drama continued until a deuce situation at 24-24, before Zhaiyk finally took the set with a score of 27-25.

Entering the third set, Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi regained control of the game, taking a commanding 8-3 lead early on. The wide point gap, reaching 16-7, allowed the players to play more freely, securing a 25-19 victory through effective counterattacks.

Zhaiyk posed a serious threat in the fourth set, taking an 8-3 lead, but Bhayangkara slowly rallied to level the score at 18-18. Repeated errors by the Kazakhstan players in crucial points ultimately allowed Bhayangkara to secure a 25-21 victory.

Meanwhile, another match pitted Hyundai Capital Sky Walker, representing South Korea, against Al Rayyan from Qatar. The South Korean team secured a 3-1 victory (20-25, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25) thanks to fast-paced play and solid defensive coordination.

The Kapolda of West Kalimantan and Head of the Polri’s Volleyball Association (PBV) and Manager of Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, Irjen Pol Pipit Rismanto, expressed his appreciation for the players’ efforts and the support of the Pontianak community in the inaugural match.

“Alhamdulillah, this first victory is a good start for Bhayangkara Presisi in AVC 2026. We appreciate the hard work of all management, coaches, and players, as well as the extraordinary support of the Indonesian people, especially the people of Pontianak, who have given the team their full support,” said Irjen Pol Pipit.

“We hope the team can remain focused and consistent in the upcoming matches, as competition at the Asian level is very fierce,” he added.

Separately, the President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), Ramon Suzara stated, that the 2026 AVC Men’s Club Championship in Pontianak represents a significant milestone for the development of volleyball in the Asian region.

“This tournament marks a significant milestone for the revival of Asian volleyball. The presence of the best teams from various countries not only provides high-quality competition, but also inspires the younger generation and promotes sportsmanship and local tourism in West Kalimantan,” said Ramon Suzara in his assessment.
