progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The head of the Polda Metro Jaya is now a three-star general. He is Commissioner General of Police (Komjen Pol) Asep Edi Suheri. News of the promotion was announced via a post on the official Instagram account @poldametrojaya on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Judging by the post, Kang Asep Edi Suheri is wearing his uniform, complete with a row of medals and decorations on his left chest. Three gold stars are also visible on the poster against a blue background.
“Congratulations and success on your promotion to a higher rank,” read the caption of the post.
Through the same account, the Public Relations Division of the Polda Metro Jaya also expressed congratulations on Kang Asep Edi Suheri’s promotion.
“The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, along with the Public Relations Division staff, congratulates and wishes success to Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri on his promotion to commissioner general,” the account stated.
Career History
Before becoming the head of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kang Asep Edi Suheri’s last position was Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Polri. However, before that, he held various positions within the Polri, from regional affairs and international relations to detectives.
This 3-star general, more familiarly author known as Kang Asep “Sniper,” is a Sundanese native born in Tasikmalaya on November 16, 1972. This Sundanese man served as Head of the Liaison and Protocol Sub-Division of the National Police’s Personal Staff. In 2011, this Scorpio man was also appointed Kapolres of the Cirebon City, and then as Kapolres of the Sukabumi in 2012.
His career path subsequently expanded to metropolitan areas. In 2015, he was appointed Wakapolres Metro of the Bekasi City and a year later, Kapolresta of the Tangerang.
In 2017, Kang Asep was assigned as Head of the Liaison Officer and Border Section of the NCB-Interpol Indonesia Secretariat in the Polri’s International Relations Division.
In 2020, Kang Asep began his career at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) as Deputy Director for Certain Crimes and Head of the Civil Servant Supervisory Agency (Korwas PPNS) Bureau.
The following year, Kang Asep was appointed Director of Cyber Crimes at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency. In 2022, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency. His career continued to climb until he was appointed Kapolda Metro Jaya on August 5, 2025. Now, he has increased his rank by one star to three, retaining the same position.
