progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Sub-Directorate of the Mobile Detective (Resmob) Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of the Polda Metro Jaya arrested a perpetrator of violent theft (curas) named Taufik aka Gembel (25), who robbed a motorcyclist, causing him to fall into a ditch on Jalan Arjuna Selatan, Palmerah, West Jakarta. Taufik aka Gembel, was arrested in the Duri Selatan area of ​​Tambora, West Jakarta.

Taufik aka Gembel, committed the robbery on Jalan Arjuna Selatan, West Jakarta, on Monday, May 4, 2026. The victim was riding his motorcycle on Jalan Arjuna Selatan when he was followed and cornered by the perpetrators on two motorcycles.

 “The victim was assaulted and unable to resist, falling into a ditch. The perpetrator then took the victim’s cellphone and motorcycle,” said the Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto in a statement on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

He also stated, that Taufik aka Gembel, was robbed on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at around 8:00 PM WIB. In addition to Taufik, police are still hunting for three other perpetrators: GR, PI, and JU, who are on the wanted list.

The Deputy Director of Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Danang Prasetiyo added, that the suspect’s motive for the robbery was needing money to buy drugs and daily necessities. Further investigation revealed that Taufik also known as Gembel, was also a drug courier.

And it turned out, after being robbed and a urine test was conducted, the results were positive for methamphetamine, also known as sabu.

“So he was also a user. The information about him being a courier was the result of further investigation. He also works as a courier on a daily basis. However, no drugs were found at the time of his arrest. However, his urine test came back positive,” explained AKBP Danang.

He added, that suspect Taufik aka Gembel, was a repeat offender in cases of violent theft in 2019 and 2020, and aggravated theft in 2024.

The raid on Taufik aka Gembel began after the Operational Team of the Special Team II Sub-Directorate of Tahbang/Resmob of the Directorate of General Crimes of the Polda Metro Jaya received a report. An investigation was then launched. Police processed the crime scene, interviewed witnesses, and analyzed CCTV footage and information from the field, ultimately leading to the arrest of suspect Taufik aka Gembel, in the Tambora area.

In addition to the arrest of Taufik, also several pieces of evidence were confiscated.  These include the victim’s cellphone and motorcycle, a motorcycle allegedly used by the perpetrator, and CCTV footage of the incident.
