progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Daily Chair of the Gerindra Party and Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated, that President Prabowo Subianto sincerely expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), which is outside the government coalition. He believes that, as Gerindra Party Chairman, President Prabowo continues to appreciate PDIP’s role under the leadership of Megawati Soekarnoputri.
“Of course, we know that what the President said, if we look at it, came from the bottom of his heart. His words and appreciation for PDIP Chairwoman, Mrs. Megawati, and PDIP are truly sincere expressions,” said Sufmi Dasco at the House of Representatives Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
He said, that DPR members from the PDIP faction have been actively criticizing Prabowo and his ministers in the Red and White Cabinet. However, he considered this constructive criticism to foster democracy.
“Constructive criticism has been provided by our friends from the PDI-P in parliament during President Prabowo’s administration,” he added.
As is known, during the House of Representatives plenary session on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Prabowo read the Macroeconomic Framework for Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) for the 2027 Draft State Budget in front of ministers, members of the House of Representatives, and several political party chairmen. Toward the end of his two-hour speech, Prabowo also touched on the role of the PDI-P in not joining the government coalition.
President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to the PDI-P and considered the party with the bull’s head logo to be making sacrifices. He also admitted to being saddened by the various criticisms voiced by members of the House of Representatives from the PDI-P faction.
“Sometimes, before i go to bed at night, my heart aches. This PDIP member is sometimes so harsh in his criticism,” said President Prabowo during a speech at the House of Representatives plenary session in Jakarta.
However, he gradually realized, that the PDIP member’s criticisms were well-founded. He also said that democracy requires oversight and balance as a principle of checks and balances.
“There’s a saying that says when someone reminds us, even though we don’t like being warned, it actually saves us,” he said.
