progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The execution process of the former Sultan Hotel in Central Jakarta by the Central Jakarta District Court today, Thursday, June 18, 2026, briefly turned chaotic. However, thanks to the alertness of the Polda Metro Jaya, the riot was quelled and prevented from escalating. A total of 69 people were also stuffed into a sack
as a result of the disturbance. The Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that the 69 people sack during the execution of the former Sultan Hotel were not hotel employees.
This confirmation was made directly by the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto, on the sidelines of the execution of the Sultan Hotel on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
“We have detained 69 people, and they are not employees of the former Sultan Hotel. We must clarify this,” Kombes Pol Bhudi emphasized.
He also confirmed, that the people suspected of inciting the disturbance during the execution were outsiders. They were a deliberately mobilized crowd.
“We confirm that they were a crowd mobilized to attempt to obstruct the asset confiscation process at this location,” said Kombes Pol Bhudi.
Investigators are currently investigating the individuals who were put in the sacks. Meanwhile, Kombes Pol Bhudi stated, that the people staying at the hotel today were a pre-arranged crowd.
“We explain and emphasize that the people staying there were people who had been conditioned to stay there for several days. This execution process has actually been underway for some time. However, negotiations are still underway. And they are being urged to persuasively leave the location,” he explained.
Around 500 people gathered at the Sultan Hotel during the execution. They attempted to resist the execution before being gassed and 69 of them were forced to be put in the sacks.
“Earlier, we both saw approximately 500 people occupying the site of the execution. We will certainly investigate the attempted obstruction and resistance against officers carrying out their duties,” Kombes Pol Bhudi emphasized again.
As is known, the execution at the former Sultan Hotel ended in chaos. Protesters who resisted the hotel’s execution threw stones at officers.
This execution was based on the ruling that Block 15 (where the Sultan Hotel was built) was a state asset that had been acquired by the government around 1959. These assets needed to be under government control.
Deputy Minister of State Secretary Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, in his explanation stated, that the execution was carried out based on President Prabowo Subianto’s directive. President Prabowo firmly requested the repatriation of state assets.
“President Prabowo has stated on several occasions that we must reclaim government assets. State assets that have been controlled by other parties,” said Bambang on the sidelines of the execution of the Block 15 area of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Sultan Hotel today.
This execution has also received Decision No. 1/PDT.EKS/2026/PN.Jkt.Pst. in conjunction with No. 208/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst. In this decision, the Central Jakarta District Court concluded that the Execution Applicants’ request for the eviction had met the requirements and was not unlawful and could be granted. So, just get on with it, okay.
