progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Top Liga 1 club Dewa United has signed former South Korean U-23 national team defender Ko Myeong-Seok for the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old also revealed that the main reason he accepted the Banten Warriors’ offer was the coach Osmar Loss.
Ko Myeong-Seok collaborated with Osmar Loss at Buriram United, successfully winning four titles in one season.
Besides the coach, Ko Myeong-Seok also views Dewa United as a club with a long-term project and a professional work system.
“I see Indonesia has extraordinary enthusiasm for football. Dewa United is a professionally managed club, and i feel this is the right place to continue my career,” he said.
Ko Myeong-Seok is known as a tough, disciplined center-back with a strong reading of the game. The 188-centimeter-tall player was also called up to the South Korean U-20 national team and represented the South Korean U-23 team three times in 2017-2018. He achieved significant success with Buriram.
“The opportunity to work again with Coach Osmar makes me even more confident. I’ve experienced success with him, and now I want to contribute to the project being built at Dewa United,” he said.
Furthermore, he enthusiastically welcomed the new challenge in Indonesian football. He said the Indonesian competition has a different character and high intensity, making it exciting.
“I want to experience the atmosphere of Indonesian football firsthand. I’ve heard the competition relies heavily on physical strength and the competition is fierce,” he added.
“That’s a challenge I’m looking forward to facing while giving my best performance for the team,” he continued.
Ko Myeong-Seok also extended his greetings to the Dewa United supporters. He hoped the supporters would continue to fill the stadium and provide added energy for the team throughout the competition.
“I’m happy to be part of the Dewa United family. Everyone at the club is working hard for the new season. Therefore, i hope the fans will come out and give me their support, and i will repay them with my best performance on the pitch,” he concluded.
