DM Arrested by the Polda Metro Ditressiber in Ciamis for Allegedly Spreading False Information Calling for Demonstrations Ahead of Indonesian Independence Day

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – For allegedly spreading false information, or hoaxes, regarding calls for demonstrations ahead of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day, a woman identified as DM (45) was arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya Cyber ​​Investigation Directorate (Ditressiber) in Ciamis Regency.

The Deputy Director of the Cyber ​​Investigation, AKBP Ardian Satrio Utomo explained, that the case was uncovered through a cyber patrol conducted by his team.

“Initially, it was the results of the cyber patrol,” said AKBP Ardian when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, 2026.

From the patrol, investigators discovered a post on the TikTok social media account @devimahadiva67 containing a call for demonstrations to oust the President and Vice President.

After digital analysis, police identified the account owner as being located in Ciamis Regency, West Java.

Furthermore, the Polda Metro Jaya’s Ditressiber coordinated with the Polres of Ciamis and the Polsek of Cipaku  to arrest the alleged perpetrator.

AKBP Ardian stated, that the DM suspect was apprehended without resistance and admitted that the TikTok account belonged to him.

During the arrest, investigators also confiscated a cell phone allegedly used by the suspect to create and upload content as evidence.

According to AKBP Ardian, the information uploaded through the account was not supported by facts and had the potential to cause unrest in the community.

Investigators are currently investigating the suspect’s motives, examining the possible involvement of other parties, and conducting witness examinations and digital forensic analysis of the confiscated evidence.

AKBP Ardian also explained, that the investigation into this case is part of increased cyber patrols ahead of several national events, including the commemoration of the 81st Indonesian Independence Day.

He also appealed to the public not to easily believe or spread unverified information.

Investigators have charged suspect DM with violating Article 28 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A paragraph (2) of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE), as well as Article 14 paragraph (1) and/or paragraph (2) and Article 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946.
