progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance has presented an award to the Polda Metro Jaya. This award serves as an expression of appreciation for the Polda Metro Jaya’s successful joint investigation in uncovering a counterfeit duty stamp syndicate.

DGT Director General Bimo Wijayanto emphasized, that the issue of counterfeit duty stamps is not merely a matter of law enforcement, it also concerns state revenue and the protection of the public who use these stamps on various documents.

“Stamp duty is a source of state revenue. When stamps are counterfeited or reused, revenue that should go to the state is lost,” said Bimo in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of the Polda Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono, expressed his appreciation for the award. He stated that this achievement was the result of collaborative effort and highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing crimes with widespread impact.

“This award serves as motivation for the Polda Metro Jaya to continue strengthening synergy with the Directorate General of Taxes and relevant agencies in law enforcement, particularly regarding crimes that cause financial loss to the state and the public,” said Brigjen Pol Dekananto.

He added, that the award also reinforces the collaboration between the Polda Metro Jaya and the DGT in preventing and cracking down on the circulation of counterfeit duty stamps. The public is urged to purchase duty stamps only through official channels and to report any suspected production, sale, or circulation of counterfeits.

During the operation, investigators seized 3.438.541 counterfeit duty stamps ready for distribution, a set of production machinery, and three large rolls of raw material paper. Based on calculations involving the finished goods and the potential production capacity of the seized raw materials, the potential state revenue loss averted is estimated to reach Rp1,034 trillion. Further investigation revealed that the network allegedly sold 4.007.334 revenue stamps over the past year, generating a turnover of approximately Rp40,07 billion.

In connection with this case, investigators have named 16 individuals as suspects. Enforcement operations were carried out between June and early July 2026 across DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and North Sumatera. The suspects allegedly played various roles, ranging from producers, distributors, and those involved in reconditioning, to sellers. (Bembo)
