The Polda Metro Jaya seized 39 bladed weapons, two airsoft guns, one airsoft gas canister, and 25 grams of airsoft pellets from individuals suspected of intending to hijack the protest.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polda Metro Jaya have arrested 65 individuals suspected of hijacking the demonstration held today in front of the DPR/MPR RI (House of Representatives/People’s Consultative Assembly) building. Among the 65 individuals, 10 are alleged to have acted as recruiters and financiers to hijack today’s protest.

In addition to arresting the 65 individuals strongly suspected of intending to incite chaos, authorities secured several pieces of supporting evidence, 39 sharp weapons, two airsoft guns, one airsoft gas canister, and 25 grams of airsoft BBs.

“Investigators have currently secured and seized the evidence, as you can all see here before us,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, speaking to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

“There are 39 sharp weapons, two airsoft guns, one airsoft gas canister, and 25 grams of BBs for the airsoft guns,” he added.

Furthermore, authorities seized three golf clubs, seven jerrycans of gasoline, 201 glass bottles with wicks, one megaphone, one can of spray paint, and 11 backpacks.

“The backpacks were presumably intended to carry these Molotov cocktails during the actual event. Also seized were four banners, four strips of Tramadol, and two strips of Diazepam,” Kombes Pol Iman stated.

Regarding the 10 individuals suspected of recruiting and funding the hijacking of the protest, Kombes Pol Iman noted, that they are currently undergoing intensive questioning.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of funding, recruitment patterns, and the nature of communication between the parties involved.

“The examination is being conducted to investigate the sources of funding, recruitment patterns, communication between parties, as well as the objectives and respective roles of each individual involved in the series of activities,” explained Kombes Pol Iman. (Bembo)
