progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed all levels of the Polri to heighten their readiness to deal with the impact of the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption. Kapolda, Kapolres, and Kapolsek have been directed to ensure personnel are prepared to mobilize quickly to provide services and assistance to affected communities.

This instruction follows the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau to several areas, including the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region and its surroundings. The Kapolri emphasized that the presence of personnel among the public is crucial to ensuring residents’ needs are addressed promptly.

“Regarding the volcanic impact, i ask all colleagues to remain on standby to assist the community with any needs requiring police support,” said Kapolri Listyo Sigit in his latest directive on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

The Kapolri also urged all regional police commanders to respond swiftly by optimizing police services, public outreach, and community education, while simultaneously preparing necessary health support and equipment.

“This includes everything from face masks and handling acute respiratory infections (ISPA) requiring hospital referrals to providing clean water and other necessities,” he stated.

He further emphasized, that all units should not merely wait for public reports but must also be capable of anticipating needs within their respective areas. Personnel were also instructed to coordinate with local governments, health and disaster management agencies, and other relevant bodies to ensure an integrated response to the eruption’s impact.

Furthermore, Kapolri Listyo Sigit asserted, that police personnel must be immediately available whenever the public requires assistance.

“This includes evacuations and sheltering if necessary, as well as other issues requiring a police presence—including assisting with public information dissemination and other related tasks,” he stressed.

In line with this directive, police units in several regions have already implemented mitigation measures. The Polda of Lampung, for instance, are preparing health support and mask distribution for the public, while also ensuring service readiness should large-scale evacuations or medical interventions become necessary.  The Polres of Bogor have distributed masks to the public as a precautionary measure against volcanic ash exposure—which has been observed reaching the Bogor Regency area—and have deployed Armored Water Cannon (AWC) vehicles to clear ash deposits from several major roads in the regency.

Meanwhile, police personnel in South Lampung, in collaboration with the Health Agency, have distributed masks and educated the public on how to protect themselves from volcanic ash exposure.

At Soekarno-Hatta International Airport of Polresta under the Polda Metro Jaya have set up health screening services and are distributing masks to passengers and airport users affected by flight delays caused by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

The Polri continue to strengthen coordination and preparedness in areas potentially affected by the eruption. In addition to prioritizing public safety, police units have been instructed to anticipate disruptions to daily activities, traffic, and public services, as well as to prepare for potential evacuations should the situation escalate.

Furthermore, Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit has urged the public not to hesitate to reach out to the police if they require assistance or aid. The Polri have assured that regional units are ready to provide services tailored to the community’s needs amidst the disaster situation.

The public is also advised to remain calm, stay vigilant, and wear masks when in areas affected by volcanic ash. Additionally, residents are urged to consistently follow official information and instructions from the government and field personnel. (Bembo)
