Suspect MI, linked to an alleged case of child sexual violence, was arrested by Sub-directorate II of the Polda Metro Jaya’s PPA-PPO Directorate.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The Polda Metro Jaya have arrested a man identified by the initials MI (23) in connection with an alleged case of child sexual violence in the Palmerah area of ​​West Jakarta. MI was arrested on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The case is being handled by Sub-directorate II of the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) of the Polda Metro Jaya.

In a statement, the Director of PPA and PPO at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Rita Wulandari Wibowo, stated, that the suspect underwent a medical examination prior to being placed in the Polda Metro Jaya detention center.

“Investigators have arrested and detained the suspect. The entire process was carried out in accordance with procedures and applicable laws and regulations,” said Kombes Pol Rita.

In this case, investigators have charged the suspect under Article 415 letter b and/or Article 473 paragraph (2) letter b and/or Article 454 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), and/or Article 6 letter b in conjunction with Article 15 letter g of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence. The handling of the case continues to uphold the presumption of innocence and the confidentiality of the child’s identity.

The Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto urged the public to work together to maintain neighborhood safety and protect children from all forms of violence.

“The public is expected to increase vigilance in their local areas. If you witness or experience suspected violence, please report it immediately to the nearest police station or contact the Police 110 service,” urged Kombes Pol Bhudi. (Bembo)
