A Comprehensive Solution, Polda Metro Jaya to Renovate Homes in Kampung Ambon

Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Dadang Hartanto.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Dadang Hartanto, emphasized that the eradication of drugs is a serious priority. He stated that this effort aligns with the ‘Asta Cita’ (eight-point vision) of President Prabowo Subianto, which has been operationalized by Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto through the “Polisi Bersama Masyarakat” program.

Kapolda Dadang identified three priority locations for drug eradication in Jakarta, Kampung Bahari, Kampung Ambon, and Boncos. These areas have long been sources of trouble and public concern.

“We have identified areas within the Jakarta region that are causing public unrest—hubs for drug distribution and consumption. We have selected three initial priority locations, Kampung Bahari, Boncos, and Kampung Ambon. These areas are well-known, people come here specifically for drug use,” said Kapolda Dadang during a site visit to a home renovation project in Kampung Ambon, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

He noted, that law enforcement efforts in these three locations have seen inconsistent results. Citing remarks from Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, he explained that law enforcement alone is insufficient, it must be accompanied by social restructuring—improving the quality of life and fostering well-being—through initiatives like home renovations.

“Law enforcement has been carried out repeatedly, yet the situation has fluctuated—improving and then regressing. We are therefore very pleased—especially the Polda Metro Jaya—that these law enforcement efforts are now being paired with a comprehensive solution,” said Kapolda Dadang.

“As the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Housing explained, law enforcement alone is not enough. We are now undertaking social restructuring to improve the quality of life for the local community, ultimately leading to greater well-being. In this instance, the focus is on housing,” he continued.

He also expressed his enthusiasm for Prabowo’s home renovation program. There are over 821.000 uninhabitable homes in Jakarta, with the highest concentration—258.000 units—located in West Jakarta.

“Furthermore, there is a program being rolled out for 10.300 housing units in Jakarta. The Minister of Home Affairs also urged local governments to allocate budget and show concern for this initiative. At the very least, there is a sense of care, prioritizing these types of programs,” he explained.

Kapolda Dadang is optimistic, that a comprehensive approach will bring progress to Kampung Ambon. He also hopes that the Polri will be included in evaluation meetings regarding the implementation of this program, which aims to liberate the area from its status as a ‘drug village.’

“We will continue to evaluate this. We intend to provide feedback on its implementation. We would certainly welcome the opportunity to participate in evaluation meetings, where we could contribute data on what improvements are needed to successfully transform this ‘drug village’—an effort centered on enhancing the residents’ well-being,” said Kapolda Dadang.

“I see this as a case of ‘killing several birds with one stone’—achieving multiple objectives through the comprehensive approach implemented by the President and his ministers,” he added. Bembo
