progresifjaya.co.id,  JAKARTA – Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has spoken out about the reasons for promoting the Kapolda Metro Jaya from two stars (Inspector General) to three stars (Commissioner General). The Kapolri explained, that the promotion was a rank alignment with the Commander of the Jakarta Military Command (Pangdam Jaya), who had already been promoted to three stars.

“Just aligning with the Pangdam Jaya,” said Kapolri Listyo Sigit on Wednesday evening, May 13, 2026.

He stated, that the promotion of Kapolda Metro Jaya Asep Edi Suheri from Inspector General to Commissioner General fully aligns with the rank of Pangdam Jaya, Deddy Suryadi, who is now a Lieutenant General. Furthermore, the Kapolda Metro Jaya’s duties and responsibilities are the same as those of the Pangdam Jaya

With this promotion, Asep Edi Suheri becomes the only Kapolda in Indonesia to hold the rank of three-star general. Other Kapolda’s hold the ranks of two-star and one-star generals.

Information about this promotion was first revealed in a post on the official Instagram account of the Polda Metro Jaya, @poldametrojaya. In the post, Polda Metro Jaya congratulated Asep Edi on his promotion.

“Congratulations and success to Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, S.I.K., M.Si. on his promotion to Commissioner General of Police,” the post read, as quoted on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

For your information, on March 11, 2026, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander promoted Pangdam Jaya Deddy Suryadi from Major General to Lieutenant General. This promotion and organizational validation coincided with the transfer of 27 high-ranking officers (pati) and 8 mid-ranking officers (pamen).

At the time, Brigjen TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, Head of the TNI Information Center (Kapuspen), stated that job transfers within the TNI were commonplace.

“This is for the purpose of developing the careers of soldiers and meeting organizational needs,” Brigjen TNI Aulia explained to the media on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Brigjen TNI Aulia also stated, that the move to elevate the Pangdam Jaya to three stars was taken to ensure the TNI organization remains adaptive to the challenges of dynamic tasks.

“Every decision is made based on considerations to support the implementation of the TNI’s core duties,” he said.
