progresifjaya.co.id, KARAWANG – The long Ascension Day holiday is predicted to increase traffic volume on the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road. Therefore, the Polres of Karawang Traffic Unit is anticipating this by deploying 66 personnel to secure the toll road and arterial roads.

Polres of Karawang Traffic Unit Chief, AKP Sudiriyanto explained, that the traffic volume is indeed quite high. However, the situation remains under control and is being secured by personnel on duty at the location.

 “Traffic is still under control, although it’s busy. It’s still 86,” said AKP Sudiriyanto while monitoring kilometer 48 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

He stated, that the Polres of Karawang Traffic Unit has deployed 15 personnel specifically on standby as a traffic enforcement team on the toll road to anticipate traffic congestion and expedite handling of any slowdowns.

Other personnel are stationed on arterial roads, tourist areas, and rest areas and travel stops, which are also expected to experience increased traffic during the long weekend.

“We continue to regulate traffic to ensure smooth traffic flow, especially at congestion-prone points such as kilometer 48 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, where the elevated and lower Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Roads meet,” he said.

As of Thursday evening, the average speed of vehicles at these locations was recorded at between 20 and 40 kilometers per hour. This slowdown is due to the high traffic volume. However, this is still considered normal for the long holiday period.

Traffic Unit  Chief AKP Sudiriyanto further stated, that the long weekend is predicted to trigger increased traffic heading to various tourist destinations and intercity travel in West Java and the surrounding areas. However, the Polres of Karawang Traffic Unit can ensure that traffic conditions remain safe, smooth, and under control.

For motorists traveling during the long weekend, AKP Sudiriyanto urged them to continue to obey traffic regulations, maintain a safe distance, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before traveling.

Furthermore, residents using rest areas are asked to behave orderly and avoid causing long queues at rest areas.
