progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Sub-Directorate 2 of the Polda Metro Jaya’s Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) has intercepted a fraudulent drug trafficking operation involving etomidate and ecstasy disguised as basmati rice from India.

Two male suspects, identified as T (26) and Y (29), were arrested at a boarding house in the Paseban area of ​​Central Jakarta.

The Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Polda Metro Jaya’s Ditresnarkoba, AKBP Triyatno Pamungkas stated in an official statement, that the interception took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 12:40 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

“We have successfully intercepted the distribution of 94 pieces of etomidate and 102 ecstasy pills at a boarding house in the Paseba area of ​​Central Jakarta,” said AKBP Triyatno on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

He said, this interception was made possible thanks to information from the public about drug trafficking activity at the location. Officers then conducted an investigation at an apartment in the Tanah Abang area of ​​Central Jakarta.

At the location, police recovered two more ecstasy pills, suspected to be connected to the same distribution network. Preliminary investigations revealed the perpetrators were members of a Malaysian syndicate.

“The suspected perpetrators’ modus operandi was to send the drugs via courier from Medan to Jakarta, disguised as Bamati rice from India,” he explained.

Sub-Directorate 2 of the Polda Metro Jaya Ditresnarkoba is currently conducting a series of in-depth investigations into this case. Meanwhile, the two perpetrators and all evidence have been secured at the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters.
