Commitment to Green Policing, Kapolda of Riau and Staff Replant Mangroves on the Rokan Hilir Coast

Kapolda of Riau, Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan, and his staff are carrying out environmental conservation efforts by replanting mangroves in the coastal area of ​​Rokan Hilir Regency.

As a manifestation of this commitment, the Kapolda of Riau, Irjen Pol Herry Heryawan, and his staff replanted damaged mangroves in the coastal areas of Rokan Hilir Regency.

The mangrove replanting took place on Friday, July 24, 2026. Rehabilitation efforts were carried out to restore the mangrove forests damaged by irresponsible individuals.

Accompanied by the Regent of Rohil, Bistamam, the Director of Special Criminal Investigation of the Polda of Riau, Kombes Pol Ade Kuncoro, the Head of Public Relations of the Polda of Riau, Kombes Pol Akhmadi; and the Kapolres of Rohil, AKBP Aldi Alfa Faroqi, Kapolda Herry and the community directly participated in the mangrove planting.

In his statement, Kapolda Herry stated, that mangrove planting is an effort to restore coastal areas that have been damaged. This planting activity was also carried out as part of the commemoration of World Mangrove Day, which is always celebrated on July 26th.

He stated, that efforts to resolve environmental damage are not sufficient through law enforcement alone. After the perpetrators are legally processed, rehabilitation measures for the area must also be carried out immediately.

“So it’s not just law enforcement. We also have to restore the damaged environment so that the benefits can be felt again by the community and the ecosystem,” said Kapolda Herry on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

This mangrove planting activity also demonstrates the Polri’s commitment to preserving nature. Furthermore, environmental preservation is the responsibility of all parties.

With this rehabilitation effort, the Polda of Riau hope that the mangrove area, as a natural barrier that protects the coast from abrasion, serves as a habitat for various biota, and maintains ecosystem balance, can be restored.

“Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. The National Police will always play a role, both through law enforcement and environmental restoration activities,” emphasized Kapolda Herry.

He also stated, that uncovering environmental destruction crimes is part of the implementation of the Green Policing program promoted by the Polda of Riau. The approach taken not only focuses on legal enforcement but also promotes environmental conservation.

It is also worth noting that the Polda of Riau recently uncovered a case of environmental destruction. Two men were named suspects for the destruction of 118 hectares of mangroves in Rokan Hilir Regency.
