progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya is continuing its investigation into the perpetrators of a mob attack that resulted in the death of a resident named Bambang Setiawan in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, during a riot on August 27, 2026. Descriptions of the perpetrators have been obtained, and facial sketches have been released.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin stated, that the facial sketches of the suspected perpetrators were created based on witness testimonies and CCTV footage from the vicinity of the incident.

“Based on witness statements supported by other leads, investigators cross-referenced the testimonies with digital analysis results. This process yielded facial sketches pointing to the suspected perpetrators of the mob attack and/or assault that resulted in the loss of a person’s life,” explained Kombes Pol Iman during a press conference at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

He explained that, according to the facial sketch expert, the physical characteristics indicate there were two individuals involved in the mob attack.

“Suspect 1: A male estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old. He has an oval face, thin eyebrows, thick lips, a short nose, black eyes, and brown skin,” said Kombes Pol Iman.

“Meanwhile, Suspect 2 is aged between 30 and 40. He has a square face, a flat nose, thick lower lips, a mustache and beard, black eyes, and brown skin,” he added.

During the investigation process, investigators have questioned 14 witnesses. These witnesses provided statements regarding the incident, which involved the destruction of public facilities and a mob attack that resulted in the victim’s death. 

“Investigators have also conducted examinations and laboratory analyses of footage from various CCTV locations, as well as videos and content from social media, believed to be linked to the incident and corroborating witness statements regarding the alleged crime,” he added.

Investigators are currently pursuing the two suspected perpetrators. The Polda Metro Jaya will also continue their investigation to uncover the masterminds behind the riot.

“Investigators are currently pursuing the suspects involved in the alleged assault or mob attack that resulted in a fatality. We remain committed to investigating the masterminds, instigators, and financiers behind the resulting riot,” stated Kombes Pol Iman optimistically. (Bembo)
