Sufmi Dasco receives a special visit from the charismatic Acehnese clered, Waled Nu.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad received a special visit from a charismatic cleric from Aceh, Tgk. H. Nuruzzahri Yahya—affectionately known as Waled Nu.
The meeting, held at the Nusantara III Building within the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, served as a significant opportunity to gather strategic input for the advancement of Aceh Province.
Waled Nu didn’t come alone. He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Aceh Ulema Consultative Council (MPU), Tgk. H. Faisal Ali—known as Abu Faisal. Waled Nu had recently been elected as one of the nine members of the Ahlul Halli Wal ‘Aqdi (AHWA) council during the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress in Jombang.
This high-level meeting was facilitated by Nazaruddin—popularly known as Dek Gam—a Member of Parliament representing Aceh who currently serves as the Chairman of the House Ethics Council (MKD).
Dek Gam noted, that the discussion in the DPR leadership office was warm and open.
He explained, that his role was to bridge the gap, ensuring the voices of Aceh’s clerics were heard directly by central-level policymakers.
“I simply facilitated the meeting. Alhamdulillah, it went smoothly,” said Dek Gam.
In his capacity as the Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) in Aceh, Dek Gam explained, that the clerics raised various crucial issues currently facing the people of Aceh.
The topics covered a wide spectrum, ranging from religious and social matters to physical development challenges requiring central government intervention.
As a legislator representing the people of Aceh in Senayan, Dek Gam is fully committed to following up on all the points discussed to ensure they don’t merely remain topics of conversation. He added that direct communication between key figures from Aceh and the leadership of the DPR RI is vital.
The aim is to ensure that regional dynamics are comprehensively understood from the perspectives of the local community and religious scholars.
Responding to the visit, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad expressed deep appreciation. To him, Aceh is not merely a region but an entity that has made significant contributions to the long history of the Indonesian nation’s struggle.
“Indeed, Aceh has a long history of struggle. My personal engagement in listening directly to the wishes of the ulama serves as a mark of respect for that history,” said Sufmi Dasco.
During the meeting, several technical and strategic issues were discussed in depth, including the optimization of Locally-Generated Revenue (PAD), persistent land disputes, and various development projects requiring national policy support.
Sufmi Dasco assured that the DPR RI would treat the aspirations voiced by the ulama as key points for future inter-agency coordination and legislative action.
“These are important aspirations for us at the DPR. We will certainly coordinate on this matter moving forward,” he stated.
The event was also attended by several leaders of DPR RI commissions and bodies, including the Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, the Deputy Chairman of Commission III, Rano Alfath, and the leadership of the State Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN), Endipat Wijaya. (Bembo)
