progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The story of a motorcyclist who went viral for putting a car driver in a headlock in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, has come to an end. The man can no longer act tough after being arrested by the Mobile Detective Unit (Subdit Resmob) of the Polda Metro Jaya’s General Criminal Investigation Directorate on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The man, identified as Otnel, was arrested in the Cilandak area of ​​South Jakarta. The headlock incident itself occurred on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM WIB at a gas station in Jagakarsa and subsequently went viral on social media.

In the circulating video, the motorcyclist and the car driver are seen engaged in a dispute. The motorcyclist, Otnel, is seen putting the driver in a headlock, nearly causing him to fall into some bushes.

According to the car driver’s statement, the dispute began when the motorcyclist attempted to overtake. The driver honked his horn, sparking anger that led to a confrontation and the subsequent headlock incident.

Meanwhile, based on a video uploaded to Instagram by the Polda Metro Jaya’s Resmob, Otnel was arrested at an office complex. He was seen holding his mobile phone when police officers approached him.

AKBP Resa Fiardy Marasabessy, Head of the Resmob Unit at the Polda Metro Jaya, confirmed the arrest.

“That is correct; we have detained the perpetrator, identified by the initial O, in the West Cilandak area,” said AKBP Resa in his statement on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Separately, Kapolsek of Jagakarsa, Kompol Nurma Dewi stated, that the car driver who was put in the headlock sustained injuries after being punched and choked repeatedly. 

“An assault occurred in which the victim was struck repeatedly and placed in a chokehold or headlock from behind, resulting in bruising around the face and chest tightness,” he stated some time ago.

The perpetrator, Otnel, is currently being detained in the holding cells of the Subdit Resmob pending the investigation process. (Bembo)
