The Dirpolairud of the Polda West Sumatera, AKBP Ibnu Bagus Santoso, mingles and interacts warmly with local residents during a visit to the Wali Nagari office in Sungai Pinang, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera.
progresifjaya.co.id, SUNGAI PINANG – The tagline championed by the Kapolri, Jenderal Pol Suyudi Ario Seto—”Polisi Bersama Masyarakat”—has truly resonated with the Director of Water and Air Police (Dirpolairud) of the Pold West Sumatera, AKBP Ibnu Bagus Santoso. This was clearly evident during his visit to the office of the Wali Nagari (Village Head) of Sungai Pinang, located in the Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatera, where AKBP Ibnu Bagus was seen mingling warmly and intimately with the local residents.
The visit took place on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Following the formal proceedings, the officer—who previously served as the Kapolres of South Tangerang —immediately engaged in lively, informal interactions with the community members present.
Friendly greetings, lighthearted banter, and a genuine sense of closeness defined the interaction. AKBP Ibnu Bagus listened attentively as residents shared their stories and concerns, welcoming all input without reservation. The connection was so close and uninhibited that it felt almost like a bond between soulmates.
“The police’s duty is not limited to upholding justice. The success of a police presence is no longer measured solely by enforcement actions, but also by the sense of security, justice, and trust felt by the public. That is the approach I am taking with the people of Bagus.
According to him, the police serve as protectors, liaisons, and facilitators, in addition to their role in law enforcement. Furthermore, the community plays a vital part in early detection, the prevention of security disturbances, and the resolution of social issues.
Ultimately, the level of security, justice, and trust experienced by the public serves as a key benchmark for every member of the Polri. According to him, the current police paradigm must shift from an approach oriented toward control and enforcement to one focused on prevention, problem-solving, and partnership with the community.
“The Kapolri’s tagline, “Polisi Bersama Masyarakat” serves as the most up-to-date paradigm for all members of the Polri to internalize and implement. It truly resonates and is meaningful to put into practice—and that is exactly what i am doing in my current assignment in West Sumatera,” explained AKBP Ibnu Bagus. (Bembo)
