progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — The 98th commemoration of Youth Pledge Day (Hari Sumpah Pemuda) served as a significant moment for public figures and various segments of society to strengthen national unity. This message of togetherness was highlighted during the 2026 Indonesian Student Youth Pledge Declaration, held in the vicinity of the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
The event, themed “Patriotic, Tenacious, Empathetic: Youth for Indonesia,” was attended by 100 students. Also present were the President’s Special Envoy for Youth Development and Creative Arts, Raffi Ahmad; representatives from the TNI and the Polri, youth organizations, community groups, and various other societal elements.
The proceedings began with the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by a collective prayer for the nation. The highlight of the event featured student representatives leading the reading of a declaration, which emphasized a commitment to upholding brotherhood, respecting differences, and prioritizing open dialogue to safeguard national unity.
President’s Special Envoy Raffi Ahmad expressed high appreciation for the enthusiasm shown by the young people in attendance. He also noted that the challenges faced by today’s youth have evolved alongside the rapid advancement of technology and social media.
“In the past, we might have fought with sharpened bamboo spears; today, we fight against hoaxes on social media, hate speech, and provocations. Most importantly, we must ensure that our young men and women do not become divided. Let us maintain our unity and cohesion. Diverse, yet still one—that is Indonesia,” Raffi asserted at the venue.
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Kapolres Metro of Central Jakarta, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung. He expressed his hope that the pledge made by the students would be deeply ingrained and manifested in their daily lives within society.
“I truly hope that this declaration is not merely spoken, but becomes something fundamental, deeply rooted in all of our hearts,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations for the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto emphasized, that this event is more than just an annual ceremony; it serves as a tangible platform to strengthen bonds and foster a sense of togetherness among students, the public, and law enforcement officials.
“We hope that this event goes beyond a mere ceremonial declaration—it is intended to unite us. The younger generation plays a vital role in consistently building positive initiatives and contributing to the progress of Indonesia,” he asserted. (Bembo)
