The Polda Metro’s Criminal Investigation Directorate held a press conference on the successful dismantling of a armed motorcycle theft network that injured a citizen with a gunshot.

This network’s gun-running operations have claimed the life of one resident, who was shot in the Palmerah area of West Jakarta. Three perpetrators from this network were also apprehended from three different locations: West Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bandung.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Bhudi Hermanto, stated in an official statement, that the dismantling of this gun-running motorcycle theft network is clear evidence that the Polda Metro Jaya are always present to ensure the safety of Jakarta residents, as exemplified by the Jaga Jakarta program, initiated by the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri.

“Frankly, the dismantling of this motorcycle theft network by the Directorate of General Crimes is not merely an act of enforcement. It also demonstrates the state’s presence, represented by the Polda Metro Jaya, in protecting citizens. The Polda Metro Jaya wants to ensure that public spaces remain safe. Meanwhile, regarding the details of the dismantling of this criminal network, the Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imannudin explained, that this operation occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. At that time, a motorcycle theft victim caught two perpetrators in the act of stealing a motorcycle from his home. When the victim shouted thief, the two perpetrators immediately fled. However, one of the perpetrators attempted to steal a motorcycle using a firearm.

“The perpetrator, who used this firearm, fired four times. One resident was shot by this reckless cowboy. Thank God, his condition is now improving,” explained Kombes Pol Iman Imannudin.

Following this incident, the Polda Metro Jaya:s Directorate of General Criminal Investigation conducted an investigation and further investigation. As a result, three perpetrators from this network were successfully identified. Their roles were as the shooter, the thief, and the receiver of the stolen vehicle.

“Three locations were used to arrest the three perpetrators: Yogyakarta, Bandung, and West Jakarta. We had to shoot the shooter because he resisted arrest. This network is also known to have operated repeatedly,” explained Kombes Pol Iman.
