Severe Traffic Jam Lasts 14 Hours on Cikidang Route, Sukabumi Polres Traffic Unit Helps Clear It Up Until Early Morning

Severe congestion lasted up to 14 hours on the Cikidang Simpang arterial road in Sukabumi Regency due to numerous extreme inclines.
progresifjaya.co.id, SUKABUMI – The terrain, with its numerous steep inclines, was the main cause of the severe traffic jam that lasted up to 14 hours on the Cikidang Intersection arterial road in Sukabumi Regency during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow. However, thanks to the alertness of the Sukabumi Polres Traffic Unit, the congestion was gradually eased until early morning.
The Head of the Sukabumi Polres Traffic Unit, AKP Abdurrohman Hidayat stated in his official statement, that congestion did occur in the Cikidang area. However, the swift action of officers who immediately went to the scene to clear it allowed traffic to flow smoothly again.
“There was some congestion at Cikidang due to the steep incline. Several vehicles were reportedly stuck on the incline, eventually stopping, causing long queues to follow down,” explained AKP Abdurrohman Hidayat at the Parungkuda Toll Gate on the Bocimi Toll Road on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
“But we from the Traffic Polres immediately intervened and cleared the area until the early hours of the morning. Thank God, everything is running smoothly now,” he added.

Besides Cikidang, congestion also occurred in the Palabuhanratu or Plara area. The surge in vehicle volume was due to the high enthusiasm of people for this year’s Eid al-Fitr holiday at these tourist destinations.
“Yes, that’s right, there was congestion in the Plara area. As we know, significant congestion was also seen on social media. This year is indeed different from previous years because public enthusiasm for vacationing is very high,” AKP Hidayat said.
Like in Cikidang and Plara, long traffic jams at the peak of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow occurred in Sukabumi. Traffic volume has increased dramatically, especially from the south towards Bogor and Jakarta.
However, unlike the Cikidang route, traffic conditions at Simpang Ratu appear to be more controlled during the return flow period. The relatively wider Simpang Ratu route appears to be better able to accommodate the volume of traffic passing through.
“At Simpang Ratu, traffic flows quite smoothly. Unlike at Cikidang and Plara. The Simpang Ratu-Warung Kiara route is wider and more capable of accommodating vehicles,” he said. (Bembo)
