Swift Work from the Polda Metro Jaya’s Dit Polairud Assists in Evacuating Flood-Affected Residents in Kampung Melayu

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya’s Water and Air Police Directorate (Dit Polairud) are working swiftly to assist in the evacuation of flood-affected residents in the Kampung Melayu area, East Jakarta. Ten personnel were deployed to search residential areas.
The operation, led by Bripka Dwi Bagus, the Team Commander, began on Monday morning, April 20, 2026, at approximately 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. They also coordinated with local neighborhood association (RT/RW) officials, along with the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) and the Polda Metro Jaya’s Sabhara.
Evacuation priority was given to vulnerable groups, such as elderly women and sick residents, to be moved to safer locations. According to field reports, the water level during the evacuation was approximately 160 cm.
The flooding that hit residential areas was caused by high rainfall in the Bogor area, which impacted the Kebon Pala area of East Jakarta.
The Director of the Water and Air Police of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Mustofa stated in a statement, that his team would continue to monitor the situation on the ground. The Polda Metro Jaya is also ready to deploy additional personnel if needed.
“Our personnel continue to assist in the evacuation of flood-affected residents, prioritizing the safety of vulnerable groups such as the elderly and the sick. We also continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure optimal handling,” said Kombes Pol Mustofa on Monday, April 20, 2026.
“We also urge the public to remain vigilant for the potential for further flooding. Continue to follow the directions of officers in the field for everyone’s safety,” he added.
