Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, accompanied by the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, moved quickly to the location of the train collision at East Bekasi Station.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Deputy Speaker House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad rushed to the scene of the long-distance train accident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, traveling from Gambir to Surabaya, and the Commuter Line train at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday evening, April 27, 2026. Upon arrival, Sufmi Dasco stated that three female passengers were already confirmed dead.

“The evacuation is still ongoing, and as far as i know, 29 people have been evacuated to the hospital. Three have died,” he said at the scene.

He explained, that given the ongoing evacuation process, the potential for more casualties is quite high. However, he remains hopeful that the death toll from this accident will be small.

“We pray that the process will be completed quickly. Officers from the Polri, TNI, and KAI (Indonesian Railway Company) are working together on the scene for the evacuation,” he said with concern.

Meanwhile, Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager for KAI Operations Area 1 Jakarta, explained in an official statement, that the incident began with an accident at a railroad crossing in the Bulak Kapal area.

The incident involved a taxi being hit by a commuter train (KRL) on the crossing track (JPL), disrupting the KRL’s operation and forcing it to stop.

“The KRL stopped because a taxi was hit at the crossing near Bulak Kapal,” Franoto said.

Due to the KRL’s sudden stop on the track, another train behind it, the Argo Bromo Anggrek, was unable to avoid it and ultimately collided with the rear of the KRL carriage.
