progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polri’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter) has filed a red notice against preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry (SAM), a suspect in a case of alleged sexual harassment of Islamic boarding school students.
A Red Notice is an official request from Interpol to law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and temporarily detain a wanted person (fugitive) until extradition or similar legal action is taken.
An explanation of the Red Notice request was provided by the Head of the Interpol Indonesia NCB Section, Kombes Pol Ricky Purnama. He confirmed that the red notice application is currently being submitted through the Interpol portal.
“We are in the process of submitting the red notice through the Interpol portal,” Kombes Pol Ricky Purnama told reporters on Friday, May 8, 2026.
In addition to submitting the red notice, the Polri are also currently in intensive communication with authorities in Egypt. This step was taken to verify the citizenship status of suspect SAM.
“We are also communicating with Egyptian authorities to validate his citizenship status,” he explained.
Kombes Pol Ricky also confirmed, that suspect SAM has officially become an Indonesian citizen (WNI). This status was obtained through the legal process of naturalization.
“If his Indonesian citizen status has been validated (approved), it will be through the naturalization process with a proposal as a mixed marriage partner with an Indonesian woman,” he said.
He continued, saying that the NCB Interpol Indonesia is currently focusing on determining whether the suspect still holds Egyptian citizenship. This validation is considered crucial for further international legal coordination.
As previously reported, the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has named preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry as a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case. This demonstrates the Polri’s commitment to providing protection to victims.
“Based on the case title conducted by investigators based on police report number LP/B/586/XI/2025/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated November 28, 2025, investigators have named SAM a suspect,” explained Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Information Bureau of the Polri Public Relations Division, to reporters on Friday, April 24, 2026.
This case was reported by an individual with the initials MMA. Investigators have sent a Letter of Notification of Investigation Progress (SP2HP) to the reporter, who is also the victim. The letter was officially signed by investigators on April 22, 2026.
“The reporter or victim has been notified of the progress of the investigation through SP2HP number B/66/IV/Res.1.24/2026/Dittipid PPA and PPO to MMA on April 22, 2026, which was signed by investigators,” said Brigjen Pol Trunoyudo.

Suspected preacher Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry has spoken out about the alleged harassment of Islamic boarding school students. In a video uploaded to his Instagram account, he stated that he left for Egypt to accompany his mother on March 15, 2026.
“I, Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, left for Egypt on March 15, 2026, and i arrived in Egypt on March 16, 2026, to accompany my mother, who was ill and underwent surgery on March 17, 2026,” he said.
He also stated, that he received a police summons on March 30, 2026, as a witness.
“So, the police summons came after i had been in Egypt for approximately 15 days. I would like to thank the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), the investigators, for giving me the opportunity to testify online,” he said.
“And this police summons is as a witness, not as a suspect, as many people imagine or have spread. Secondly, the accusations of harassment against the students are untrue,” he added.
