Kapolsek Metro of Kebayoran Baru, AKBP Nugraha Kusuma, giving a press statement regarding the operation to crack down on a syndicate that received stolen cellphones.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Polsek Metro of Kebayoran Baru have busted a syndicate receiving stolen cell phones. A total of 225 cell phones, including an iPhone 17 Pro Max and other Android phones, were seized. One belonged to the wife of Persija Jakarta coach, Mauricio Souza.

In his explanation during a press conference, Kapolsek Metro of Kebayoran Baru, AKBP Nugraha Kusuma stated, that the operation stemmed from numerous reports from the public about lost phones, including in Blok M. Several reports dated April 12-13 reported that residents had lost iPhone 11 Pros and iPhone 17 Pro Maxes.

Following the numerous reports received, police immediately conducted an investigation and located the suspect in an apartment in the LRT City sub-district, East Bekasi District.  We also received reports that someone was receiving stolen cellphones in Bekasi.

“We identified the location using police techniques based on scientific investigation. The location was in an apartment,” said AKBP Nugraha.

After confirming the location was correct, a raid was conducted. Three suspected perpetrators were arrested: MR alias A, MAA also alias A, and J also alias J.

He also revealed, that the receivers sold the iPhones and Android phones through outright purchases. They then covered their tracks to avoid detection if anything happened.

“So, after the transaction, they immediately changed their numbers and erased their identities,” said AKBP Nugraha.

After collecting evidence from all the cellphones, the police then conducted a data collection and returned the phones to their respective owners.

 “So, i would like to add and clarify that the evidence we have secured consists of 42 Android cellphones and 183 iPhones. Approximately 40 of these have been returned to their owners,” said AKBP Nugraha again.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation at the Polsek Metro of Kebayoran Baru, AKP Andre JR Simamora added, that the three suspects arrested in this case are known to have been operating since 2025.

They received stolen cellphones from criminals who typically operate in elite areas or crowded places.

“Yes, perhaps the location or location of the incident is in crowded places like ICE BSD. Perhaps there are also well-known people involved, more or less like that,” explained AKP Andre.

He also stated, that the operation had been going on since 2025.  However, all the arrests were made in 2026.

“Since the police reports began, from January to May. The most recent one was in May. One of the victims was the wife of the Persija coach, and we have returned her cellphone. It’s an iPhone 17 Pro Max,” said AKP Andre.
