progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Kapolda Metro Jaya, Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, attended the Waste Sorting Movement Declaration and the launch of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, titled “Keep Jakarta Clean; Sort Waste” at the Pedestrian Plaza Festival, Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said No. 22, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

This activity is a follow-up to Jakarta Governor’s Instruction Number 5 of 2026 concerning the obligation to sort waste at its source, both in households, offices, and businesses.

In his statement, Kapolda Irjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri stated, that the waste sorting movement is an important step in maintaining environmental cleanliness in Jakarta.

“This movement is very positive in raising public awareness to care more about cleanliness and the environment. We support this joint effort to keep Jakarta clean and comfortable,” said Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’.

According to him, the waste problem cannot be handled by the government alone, but requires the involvement of all elements of society.

“If we do it together and start with small things like sorting waste, it will certainly have a big impact on the environment,” he said.

The Polda Metro Jaya strongly supports the waste sorting movement initiated by the Jakarta Provincial Government. This is an effort to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness amidst the increasing volume of waste at the Bantar Gebang Landfill.

The presence of Kapolda Kang Asep ‘Sniper’ at this activity also demonstrates the synergy between the Polri and the regional government in supporting environmental cleanliness programs. It also serves as a sweetener for the series of celebrations for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary, leading up to its 500th anniversary in 2027.
