Building a Culture of Environmental Care, Polda Metro Launches the Keep Jakarta Clean and Beautiful Movement

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Keep Jakarta Clean and Beautiful Movement was launched by the Polda Metro Jaya as an effort to build a culture of environmental care within the police force on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The Polda Metro Jaya also prepared 821 separate trash bins at the Polda Headquarters (Mako Polda), the police resort (Polres), and the police sector (Polsek).
In a statement after the launch, Wakapolda Metro Jaya, Brigjen Pol Dekananto Eko Purwono stated that the 821 separate trash bins prepared were divided into 465 separate trash bins for the Polda Metro Jaya 123 separate trash bins for the police resort and 233 separate trash bins for the police sector
The trash bins were also divided by type organic, non-organic, and hazardous waste. The provision of these facilities is expected to encourage personnel to practice consistent and sustainable waste sorting.
“This waste issue seems simple, but if we don’t manage it properly, correctly, consistently, and sustainably, it will become a major problem,” said Wakapolda, Brigjen Pol Dekananto.
He explained, that the launch of the Keep Jakarta Clean and Beautiful Movement was a follow-up to the direction of the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, regarding the waste sorting movement within the Polda Metro Jaya. This program is also in tune with government policy on urban waste management and an effort to build collective awareness of waste sorting, starting in the workplace.
He also explained, that the Keep Jakarta Clean and Beautiful Movement is being implemented comprehensively, from the Regional Police (Polda) level, down to the Police Sector (Polsek) level. This launch is not merely a ceremonial activity, but rather the first step in establishing new habits of maintaining a clean environment.

“Today, the Kapolda e and all ranks, including the Police Resort and Police Sector launched a waste sorting initiative as part of a clean and beautiful culture within the Polda Metro Jaya,” said Wakapolda Dekananto.
The Keep Jakarta Clean and Beautiful Movement also involved 6.379 personnel. These included 1.000 personnel from 29 work units within the Polda Metro Jaya, 2.440 personnel from 13 police resort and 2.939 personnel from 102 police sector.
The personnel involved immediately began cleaning and organizing the area around the Polda Metro Jaya after the roll call. The Polda Metro Jaya not only involved police personnel but also invited representatives of community organizations from the Jakarta and surrounding areas, demonstrating close collaboration between the police and the community to maintain a clean environment.
“The Polda Metro Jaya and the community. Let’s work together and synergize on this waste issue,” said Wakapolda Dekananto.
This movement, he continued, is also part of the Polda Metro Jaya’s commitment to always be a humane presence in the community. According to Wakapolda Dekananto, the Polri are not only present to maintain security and order, but also to promote environmental awareness.
“The Polri wants to continue to be present with a humane face, not only in maintaining public order and security, but also through environmental awareness. The spirit of “Jaga Jakarta” must start with simple things, including maintaining environmental cleanliness and beauty,” he emphasized.
