Korlantas Polri Launches Digital Driving License Innovation, Already Certified by BSSN

The digital driver’s license is the latest innovation launched by the Korlantas Polri.
progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – The Traffic Corps of the Polri ((Korlantas Polri) has launched a digital driver’s license (SIM). The launch of this digital SIM aims to facilitate drivers’ mobility.
The launch of the digital SIM was announced at the Polri Traffic Function Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) for the 2026 Fiscal Year on Friday, May 22, 2026.
In his statement at the Rakernis, Wakapolri, Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo stated, that the digital SIM is the latest innovation in the integrated Signal service system from the Head of the Traffic Corps.
“Now, there are SIM services, STNK (vehicle registration certificate) renewal services, and BPKB (vehicle registration certificate) renewal services designed by the Head of the Traffic Corps,” said Komjen Pol Dedi.
He explained, that through this innovation, the public can access their SIM through the Korlantas digital application without having to carry a physical SIM.

Wakapolri, Komjen Pol Dedi Prasetyo, accompanied by Kakorlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, during the 2026 Polri Traffic Function Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis).
He explained, that the digital driver’s license uses a barcode that dynamically changes every 10 seconds to prevent counterfeiting. The barcode also cannot be screenshotted or transferred.
Komjen Pok Dedi also stated, that the digital driver’s license has received security certification from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to protect owner data.
In addition to the digital driver’s license, the Korlantas has also innovated by launching a mobile electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) drone, or electronic ticketing drone.
This type of ETLE, said Komjen Pol Dedi, is more dynamic in detecting potential traffic violations on several roads and can also capture facial recognition.
“This is to prevent errors in traffic enforcement, and it can also verify using a facial recognition system. This is its advantage. It’s an extraordinary step,” said Komjen Pol Dedi, who was accompanied by the Kakorlantas Polri, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, and other relevant stakeholders at the launch of the digital driver’s license.
Meanwhile, the Director of Registration and Identification (Dirregident) of the Korlantas Polri, Brigjen Pol Wibowo also explained the advantages of the newly launched digital SIM.
He said, that the public can store and display their SIMs in digital form through the Korlantas Polri Digital application.
“The available data includes the owner’s identity, SIM number, expiration date, and a QR code for verification by officers in the field,” said Brigjen Pol Wibowo in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
He said, that with the full implementation of the digital version, drivers undergoing traffic inspections will no longer need to show a physical card.
Officers, he continued, will only need to check the validity of the digital SIM on the driver’s mobile phone through the Korlantas centralized system.
“Going forward, SIM validity will be based on data on the server, not solely on the physical card. This will increase efficiency, speed up the inspection process, and minimize the potential for counterfeiting,” he said.
This digital system is also integrated with various other services, such as online driver’s license renewal, expiration notification, and connectivity to the electronic ticketing system (ETLE).
However, for this initial phase, Brigjen Pol Wibowo still urges motorists to carry their physical driver’s license cards, as the digitalization process is still in the system refinement stage.
“In the initial phase, we continue to urge the public to carry their physical driver’s licenses as backups while we wait for the system to be fully operational across all regions,” he reminded.
