progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, expressed his appreciation and support for the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) of the Polri’s move to elevate the handling of alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) to the investigation stage for the procurement and supply of coal for a coal-fired power plant (PLTU).
According to Habiburokhman, the case’s status upgrade demonstrates the Polri’s commitment to combating corrupt practices in the energy sector, which have broad impacts on the interests of the state and the public.
“We appreciate and support Kortastipidkor of the Polri Headquarters for enforcing corruption eradication laws in this coal corruption case,” Habiburokhman told reporters on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
He emphasized, that the investigation process must be conducted thoroughly, professionally, and impartially. He also emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of transparency and independence to uncover all parties suspected of involvement in the case.
“This case must be thoroughly investigated within the ‘Presisi’ corridor, namely predictive, responsible, transparent, fair, and independent. Anyone involved in this coal corruption must be held legally accountable,” he asserted.
In his assessment, the alleged corruption in the coal sector not only resulted in significant state financial losses but also had a direct impact on public services.
And based on investigators’ findings, these irregularities are suspected to be one of the causes of power outages in various regions of Indonesia.
“Coal corruption not only caused significant losses to state finances but also resulted in power outages in various areas, causing significant hardship for the public,” explained Habiburokhman.
As is known, the Polri Kortastipidkor has officially elevated the handling of the alleged corruption and money laundering cases related to the procurement and supply of coal for several PLTU to the investigation stage. Investigators suspect that this practice not only caused state financial losses but also contributed to power outages in several regions of Indonesia.
The Head of the Polri’s Kortastipidkor, Irjen Pol Totok Suharyanto stated in a statement, that the case status was upgraded on July 4, 2026, after investigators found indications of criminal activity based on the results of their investigation.
“Based on the results of a comprehensive investigation, including document collection, inquiries, and initial analysis of the evidence, the Polri’s Kortastipidkor has elevated the status of this case to the investigation stage,” said Irjen Pol Totok at the Polri Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) last Monday, July 6, 2026.
This case was handled based on Police Report No. LP/A/6/VII/2026/KORTASTIPIDKOR POLRI and Investigation Order No. SP.Sidik/63/VII/RES.3.1./2026/Kortastipidkor, both issued on July 4, 2026.
In the initial stages of the investigation, investigators suspected irregularities in the procurement and supply of coal for the PLTU, involving two companies, PT OBP and PT BRA.
“At the very least, investigators have found alleged irregularities in the procurement and supply of coal at the PLTU by several companies involved, PT OBP and PT BRA,” explained Irjen Pol Totok.
