Polres of Indramayu Community Guidance Unit Provides Guidance to 46 SMP Negeri 1 Sindang Students

The Community Guidance Unit (Sat Binmas) of the Polres of Indramayu Polda of West Java provides guidance to 46 students from SMP Negeri 1 Sindang, Indramayu Regency.

progresifjaya.co.id, INDRAMAYU – A total of 46 students from SMP Negeri 1 Sindang, Indramayu Regency, received guidance from the Community Guidance Unit (Sat Binmas) of the Polres of Indramayu, Polda of West Java, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The students’ parents were also present to jointly discuss issues regarding juvenile delinquency, ranging from motorcycle convoys to the risks of abusing Certain Potent Drugs (OKT).

The activity, held at the school in the Sindang District, served as a forum for dialogue among the police, school authorities, and parents to identify preventive measures that would keep students from falling into behaviors that endanger themselves or others.

“This guidance session was conducted in response to concerns regarding the behavior of several students, including disorderly motorcycle convoy activities on public roads,” said Kapolres of Indramayu, AKBP Prianggo P. M., through the Head of the Community Guidance Unit, Iptu Tasim.

According to the Head of the Community Guidance Unit, the issue of juvenile delinquency cannot be handled solely by the school or the police. Family involvement is crucial, as a child’s activities outside the school environment also require parental attention and supervision.

“We deliberately invited the students’ parents to sit together in this hall to align our perspectives. Supervising children outside of school hours is the responsibility of the parents,” stated Iptu Tasim.

He explained, that parents need to be more familiar with their children’s social circles, including paying attention to their activities after school and when gathering with friends. This is vital to prevent students from becoming involved in high-risk activities, such as reckless vehicle convoys, motorcycle gangs, and student brawls.

“We are providing education so that parents are more attentive in monitoring their children’s social interactions, ensuring they do not get involved with motorcycle gangs, dangerous convoys, or brawls,” he said.

Beyond addressing juvenile delinquency, Iptu Tasim also highlighted the issue of underage children riding motorcycles on public roads.

He reminded everyone that riders must meet age requirements and possess a valid driver’s license in accordance with regulations. Consequently, parents are urged not to allow children who do not meet these requirements to ride motorcycles on public roads.

“Underage children who do not hold a driver’s license must not ride motorcycles on public roads. This is a matter of safety—both for themselves and for other road users,” he emphasized.

In addition to road safety, the guidance session addressed the dangers of abusing certain potent drugs, such as Tramadol, Trihexyphenidyl, and Hexymer.

Iptu Tasim warned, that using these drugs without a medical indication or doctor’s supervision can lead to serious health risks, including dependency and impaired bodily functions.

He noted, that parents need to be more attentive to changes in their children’s behavior and foster open communication so that teenagers are not easily swayed into using drugs indiscriminately.

“We urge parents to be observant of behavioral changes in their children to anticipate the abuse of potent drugs that could jeopardize their health and future,” he said.

Iptu Tasim also emphasized, that this guidance was not intended to stigmatize the students, but rather to encourage them to understand the consequences of risky behavior.

He expressed hope, that schools and parents would maintain communication with the police if they encountered signs of juvenile delinquency requiring intervention.

He believes, that prioritizing a dialog-based, educational approach gives students the opportunity to correct their behavior and focus more on their education.

“If you spot signs of juvenile delinquency, immediately adopt an educational, dialog-based approach. Let us foster communication among the police, schools, and parents so that children can grow into a better generation,” he stated.

Through this guidance initiative, the authorities hope to foster a shared awareness regarding the need to enhance supervision, strengthen character education, and create a safe social environment for students.

Separately, the Head of Public Relations for the Polres of Indramayu, AKP Tarno, urged the public not to hesitate to use the “Lapor Pak Polisi – Siap Mas Indramayu” service—accessible via WhatsApp at 081999700110 or the 110 call center—if they encounter any criminal activity or disturbances to public order and security in their neighborhoods.
