progresifjaya.co.id, BANJAR CITY – The Traffic Unit of the Polres Banjar City under the Polda of West Java has launched Operation Patuh Lodaya 2026. This traffic-focused police operation, conducted simultaneously across the entire jurisdiction of the Polda of West Java, will span two weeks, from October 26 to November 8, 2026.

Kapolres Banjar City, AKBP Didi Dewantoro stated, that the primary focus of this operation is on traffic violations that carry a high risk of causing fatal accidents on the road.

“The main targets are traffic violations that could lead to fatalities in the event of an accident,” said Kapolres Didi Dewantoro on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Specific violations targeted for enforcement include failing to wear a standard-compliant helmet, driving against the flow of traffic, stopping improperly on the road shoulder or the roadway itself, and the use of non-standard, loud exhaust pipes (knalpot brong).

Other targeted violations include carrying more than one passenger on a motorcycle, as well as various other visible infractions deemed to carry a high risk of causing fatal accidents.

Regarding sanctions, the Polres Banjar City Traffic Unit will prioritize a persuasive and educational approach. However, if officers in the field encounter violations that clearly pose a risk of fatal accidents, strict enforcement—in the form of electronic or manual traffic citations—will be applied immediately.

Nevertheless, Kapolres Didi emphasized that this law enforcement effort is not merely about imposing penalties, but also about fostering a collective sense of awareness within the community.

“Adherence to traffic regulations should not stem from the presence of police, but rather from an awareness of the importance of personal safety—given that accidents can result in both material losses and the loss of human life,” he asserted.

Focus on Student Education and Driver’s License Ownership

On the same occasion, the Traffic Unit of the Polres Banjar City placed special emphasis on the safety of underage students who operate motor vehicles.

For students under the age of 17—who do not yet meet the requirements to hold a driver’s license (SIM)—the police provide educational outreach and corrective guidance.

Meanwhile, for motorists aged 17 and older, holding a driver’s license serves as proof of basic competence, indicating that the driver is capable and understands traffic rules and etiquette.

As a form of support for the educational sector, the Polres Banjar City Traffic Unit regularly conducts outreach programs at schools every Monday. They also actively promote safety awareness in junior high (SMP) and senior/vocational high schools (SMA/SMK).

During the Operasi Patuh Lodaya 2026, the Polres Banjar City Traffic Unit is providing education to traffic violators and supplying helmets to those found riding without one.

Through Operasi Patuh Lodaya 2026, the Polres Banjar City Traffic Unit hope to reduce the number of traffic accidents, while simultaneously fostering a culture of orderly, safe, and comfortable traffic behavior in Banjar City. (Bembo)
