Operation Patuh Lodaya 2026, Polres Ciamis Distribute Free Helmets to Motorcyclists

The Polres Ciamis provide free helmets to motorcyclists.

progresifjaya.co.id, CIAMIS – The Polres Ciamis) continue their efforts to foster a safe and orderly public environment, particularly on the roads. One of the measures taken is to move away from an intimidating atmosphere during traffic enforcement operations. Instead, the Polres Ciamis are prioritizing an educational approach, which includes distributing free helmets to riders found not wearing one.

This initiative was led personally by the Kapolres Ciamis, AKBP Eko Iskandar. Kapolres Eko oversaw his officers during traffic management activities as part of Operation Patuh Lodaya 2026.”l The operation took place on the road near Ciamis Hospital, specifically in the Kalapajajar neighborhood, Ciamis Village, on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Kapolres Eko stated, that the presence of police personnel in the field is intended to provide a sense of security while simultaneously educating the public on-site.

“This morning’s traffic management is part of the police force’s program to create a safe public space. The presence of our officers is crucial during times of high public mobility, such as when children are heading to school,” he said.

During the enforcement, officers encountered several riders—both adults and children—who were not complying with traffic safety regulations, specifically regarding the use of helmets. Rather than immediately issuing traffic tickets, the Polres Ciamis officers provided free helmets and explained the importance of using such safety gear.

“We are conducting educational outreach while distributing helmets to riders who are not wearing them, whether they are adults or children. This effort also aligns with the ongoing Operation Patuh,” said Kapolres Eko.

He added that, thus far, motorist discipline on main thoroughfares and national roads within the Ciamis region has been relatively good and orderly. However, the level of awareness on village roads still requires improvement.

According to Kapolres Eko, some people in rural areas still view helmets merely as a requirement for regulatory compliance, rather than as a means of personal safety.

“A helmet is not just a requirement for maintaining order or avoiding trouble with traffic signs; it is a primary safety measure for the rider themselves,” stated Kapolres Eko.

The Polres Ciamis will continue to prioritize preemptive and preventive measures in their field operations. Law enforcement through the issuance of traffic tickets will be reserved only for serious violations that carry a high risk of causing fatal traffic accidents.

“We are keeping law enforcement via traffic tickets to a minimum, applying them only to violations that could potentially lead to fatal accidents or endanger other road users. Ultimately, our goal is to raise awareness about traffic safety so that the number of accidents in Ciamis can be reduced,” emphasized Kapolres Eko. (Bembo)
