progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA – Edi Saputra Hasibuan, a criminal law observer from Bhayangkara University Jakarta and Executive Director of the Indonesian Police Strategic Studies Institute (Lemkapi), expressed his support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (Kortastipikor) and Polda Metro Jaya investigation into three major corruption cases that have garnered public attention. The cases currently being handled include alleged corruption in coal supplies to PLN, Asabri, and Jiwasraya, as well as the debt settlement of PT Krakatau Steel.
In his assessment, the handling of these cases is part of the law enforcement authorities’ commitment to eradicating corruption, which has caused state losses amounting to trillions of rupiah and has had a wide impact on the public interest.
Therefore, Edi Saputra Hasibuan urged all parties to respect the ongoing legal process and refrain from any actions that could hinder the investigation.
“We ask all parties to respect the legal process. Corruption is an enemy of the state and society. We believe the people will definitely support the police,” said Edi, Thursday, July 9, 2026.
The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) member from 2012–2016 also emphasized, that the case investigation process must be carried out professionally, transparently, and impartially.
He also stated, that the Polri has demonstrated its commitment to prosecuting anyone proven to be involved in corruption, including those suspected of obstructing the investigation process or obstructing justice.
He also emphasized, that any attempt to intervene or obstruct the law enforcement process must be processed according to applicable regulations.
“We ask for respect for the legal process. We demand that anyone who attempts to obstruct the law enforcement process be prosecuted according to applicable regulations. No party may intervene or obstruct investigators in uncovering corruption cases of public concern,” he emphasized.
According to information provided by the Polri, as of last night, the investigative team had conducted searches in at least 12 different locations. During the search, investigators found several pieces of evidence, including cash in foreign currency, which will be further examined as part of the evidence-based process.
Therefore, Edi emphasized the importance of allowing investigators the space to work independently and professionally so that all evidence obtained can be tested based on legal facts.
“Let the investigators work professionally. All evidence found must be tested and developed based on legal facts so that the handling of this case truly provides legal certainty, a sense of justice, and a deterrent effect for perpetrators of corruption,” he emphasized.
