Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate Distributes 20.000 Masks to Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers Amidst Volcanic Ash Spread

Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas personnel distribute 20.000 masks to online motorcycle taxi drivers.

progresifjaya.co.id, JAKARTA — Taking a proactive stance regarding the spread of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, the Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of the Polda Metro Jaya distributed 20.000 masks to online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers at three locations—Gandaria City Mall, Kebayoran Lama Station, and the Blok M MRT station—on Monday, September 7, 2026.

This initiative was carried out under the direction of the Kapolda Metro Jaya, Komjen Pol Asep Edi Suheri, as a gesture of care and service from the Polri toward online motorcycle taxi drivers who continue to work amidst the spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

Online motorcycle taxi drivers are a group that spends a significant amount of time working in open-air environments. The mask distribution aims to help reduce exposure to volcanic ash—particularly regarding the respiratory tract—while they are riding and serving the public’s needs.

In addition to distributing masks, Polda Metro Jaya Ditlantas personnel provided safety advice, urging drivers to always use personal protective gear while riding, reduce speed when visibility is poor, maintain a safe following distance, and remain attentive to their surroundings.

This activity is also part of the Polri’s effort to provide direct protection and service to the public who must continue their activities amidst the spread of volcanic ash.

Through the distribution of these 20.000 masks, it is hoped that online motorcycle taxi drivers can continue their work more safely and with better protection. (Bembo)
